Interesting.  Not sure this plays a role with Brewer (who would be coming off the bench anyways), but it makes a lot more sense why they didn't try harder to trade Butler.  It sounds like he expects to be back pretty soon, which is the first time I have heard of him coming back at all this year.

Brewer's easily one of the leagues top wing defenders

The rest of your post makes sense (even if I disagree), but this is a massive overstatement IMO.  He may have some potential defensively, but there is no way he is a top wing defender right now.

Yeah, agree. Brewer could be a guy that you want to help defensively on the wing..but he's a far cry from 'easily one of the leagues top wing defenders'.

I thought Caron Butler was out for the season, including playoffs? Didnt he have a serious knee injury?

I have to think since this seems to an actual decision requiring consideration rather than a no-brainer that Dallas is just offering him the minimum. If Dallas was offering the MLE, he would be shopping for accomodations in Texas right now..

wow, that would be great for Dallas if Butler can be back at least at 80% by the playoffs.

Welp...Mavs apparently look like they're close to winning the Brewer sweepstakes.

Well, who's next that deserves a 25 pages long thread? Arroyo? Hughes? Pavlovic? Powe?

Well, in the end he went where we expected him to go. Too bad but at least he is going to a team who will compete with L.A and thus bother Kobe.

Yeah that's that. Stein has the Dallas connection so I trust him here. I think it's a mistake but I guess they feel he is worth it. Of course Dallas has never been one to care too much about the downside of these decisions but it's still seems a little silly on their part..

Ah, well, no big deal.  Our team still goes 12 deep; Brewer was a luxury.

I'm curious too see who, if anybody, we bring in to fill the remaining spots.

I like Pavlovic. Don't think he'd play much but seems like a good decent insurance player..

Yeah, I would imagine Danny didn't open those spots up for no reason.  Obviously he wanted to chase the big fish first, but once Brewer is gone, I wonder what kind of depth he will bring in.

I think that having too many solid role players could have actually hurt this team. I think that the reason our team went so deep last year after the Nate trade was partly due to the fact that the rotations shortened. So maybe, this may help our causes... but it certainly doesn't hurt it.
