Sheed's not coming back and even if he did, I'm willing to bet he is nowhere near NBA shape.

I'd be shocked if he's on someone's roster in late April.

How out of shape can you really get, less than one year removed from playing 100+ pro basketball games?

They showed Rasheed during the Duke/UNC game a few weeks ago in the stands.  While he was wearing clothes, he was not visibly out of shape.  No double chin or gut or anything like that.

Speaking of Rasheed.  Did anyone notice that he seemed to drop like 10 pounds from the end of the regular season to mid-playoffs last season?  I'd take him in a heartbeat.

Pretty easily.  Its not too hard with professional athletes.  How many times do we hear about guys showing up at training camps 20 lbs overweight during an offseason (an NBA summer, nevermind almost an entire year)?

Also, consider the standpoint that, with the exception of soccer, professional basketball might be the most cardiovascular straining sport going and its not too farfetched to consider that Sheed might not be anywhere ready for the wear & tear of an NBA game.

This isnt one of us taking a year off and then bouncing back on a playground court to play pickup.  This is the NBA.  Some of the best athletes in the world and Sheed hasn't exactly been known for his training regime in the past.

Good points, but you can't discount what an intense core workout gork-coughing on good chronic can be    ;D

Heck, even out of shape, Sheed's gotta bring better post D than Krstic.  Considering Shaq's foul rate, our backup C is gonna need to play above average D for us to go deep in the playoffs.

I'd love to see Sheed in Green again...but...do guys think he can he pull a P.J. Brown and get himself into playing shape with a little over 20 games to go? Wow...I have some serious doubts.

Consider the caloric intake required to sustain that level of activity.  You might be eating twice as much as a healthy non-athlete, or more.  Now imagine not changing your diet at all while sitting at home.  Perhaps you even start eating unhealthy things you have avoided for a long time, such as drinking larger quantities of beer.

Funny but I watched the Idaho Stampede play the other night while I was waiting for the C's game to come on.  It's so depressing seeing Walker play.  It reminded me of the movie The Wrestler where he used to wrestle in venues like Madison Square Garden but now he is wrestling in high school gyms.  They could make a movie about Walker called The Wiggler and profile his life from fortune and fame to barely holding on to the DLeague and his inability to know that it's over.

Ive got to agree with the people who say Steven A. Smith is full of crap.  The guy is one of the worst sports "journalist" and is a contributor on Fox News, which takes what little credibility he has and tosses it in the trash.

I would not bet on anything that comes out of SAS's mouth.  Its usually just hyperbole, fantasies and longshots to get tv or radio time.

Well, even Fox News has to have the steven i smiths, geraldo's, and greta van facelifts so they can keep up with "credible" networks like the alphabet "networks" and the so-called news networks you watch.

Strangely, to steven's credit, his commentary beyond sports is pretty level-headed.

I believed Sheed would be back for the end of the season when he was bought out and still do.  Especially now with Perk gone.

That is a phenominal analogy.  Antoine Bam Walker.

Why bring him back? The guy was out of shape when we had him for a full season. He'd kill our defense and offense when he's bricking 3 pointers.
