From Mike Prada at SBN:

Needs 48 hrs 2 clear waivers if true RT @1livestew: From a really good source Wizards bought Bibby's contract out. He'll be going 2 MIA 2mrw

Would probably instantly become Miami's best point guard. A defensive liability though....

Rondo's Better!
Andy Bernard doesnt lose constests. He wins them, or he quits them because they're unfair.

Yeah, terrible defense, but he would make them better.  Bibby is an elite 3PT shooter (.435 this year), and he can handle the ball, which is about all the Heat need from their point guard on offense.

This is what I'm saying about being careful what you wish for. I really hope that no one else gets bought out and we fill in the roster spots with whatever is out there, be it Powe or whatever.

Expected him to go their if he got bought out.  I think the deal helps them a lot on the offensive end, but definitely not enough for them to overtake us in the East.

It definitely is an upgrade at the point position for them though.

Meh. Bibby is a slight upgrade over Chalmers and Arroyo.

Bibby is a proven playoff performer who has a history of taking and making big shots. He gives them everything House does in terms of shooting, but is a far better ball handler.

This would be a very good pickup by the Heat.

Comparison between Bibby vs. Miami's other PG options:

Link.

The offensive production is a lot closer than I was expecting.  Like BB said above, though, Bibby isn't afraid to take big shots in the playoffs.

I live in ATL so i've watched a lot of bibby (esp. this year), and his playing has significantly dropped off over the course of the season.  In the games before he was shipped to wash. he was jacking up threes and playing little defense, miami already has chalmers and house for that purpose.  He's old and washed up, so hopefully they sign him and he becomes a liability :D

Bibby provides nothing more than the pg's they have except maybe a bad attitude

His 3 pt shooting numbers over the last two years are career highs (both in the 44% range). I'm not saying that he changes things dramatically, but it's a nice pickup.

Aside: click on his full basketball-reference page and look at the "fan ratings" line.

Chalmers is a lot better than Mike Bibby.

Arroyo to Bibby is largely a lateral move but Bibby's long range shooting could make that an improvement for Miami.

But if it comes at the cost of Chalmers playing time, that is a win for Boston. Makes Miami worse.

Bibby is like the middle man between House (who can fill it up like few can in this league) and Arroyo (who can handle the ball). I think this trade will make Miami better though because being able to play in big moments will count for that team.

It's a good pick up for Miami, bib by can handle the ball and hit threes BUT against a good pg his bad defense negates his good pts

The Heat don't really need a pg that can handle the ball. They'd be better off with the John Paxson/Steve Kerr model that the Bulls used.
