I don't see him on the bench. Game is now in the 2Q.

Me too...I had to turn on the game after MisinFormed's post.

funny that we're all following the info of a guy with 3 posts called "MisinFormed"

I asked Sherod B on twitter less than an hour ago and he said if Murphy is bought out the chances that he comes to boston are very high

The "if" in that statement is starting to look more and more ominous.  I forgot February has only 28 days, so Tues is March 1st....

Exactly. We can't sign him after that.

It could be valid. What if he works in  a deli, for instance? Those guys know things...

We can sign him at any time prior to the playoffs.  He's only eligible for our playoff roster, though, if he's bought out by March 1.  (When we sign him doesn't matter, but the timing of the buyout does.)

No, we can.

Players have to be bought out and made free agents by March 1, but they can be signed and be playoff eligible for quite some time after that.

The Celtics brought PJ Brown, then a free agent, out of retirement after March 1 during that title year, IIRC.

If Troy Murphy really wants to come to Boston, then it is just good business for GSW to try to extract as much savings as possible in a buy-out.  A buy-out is probably his for the asking if he is willing to give up a sufficient amount of money.  Since its been reported that Murphy would like to be a Celtic, that give GS more bargaining power.  If Murphy had kept his mouth shut, maybe it would have cost him less if he wants a buy-out.

That's not correct; we signed PJ in late FEB so that he would be playoff eligible.

We signed Sam Cassell in early March that year, I believe.  Michael Finley, too.  The time of signing didn't have anything to do with being playoff eligible; if a player is a free agent on or before March 1, he can sign with any team for the playoffs.

CB's main page says that he is headed to the Bulls.

I think it's been reported that he's committed to the Bulls.

Can't blame him.  He could play a pretty big role there.  As I said in the other thread about point guards, if you're Ainge, what do you pitch Butler?

With Green here, he's going to consume most of the wing minutes, as Pierce will now slide down to the 2 at times to play with Green.

I think it's going to be tough for us to nab a good wing.

The good news is that with Pierce, Allen, Green, Wafer, and West, I think we'll likely be OK at the 2/3.
