great news he can provide some much needed depth, outside shooting (39% career 3pts, 2.3 attempts per game) and rebounding. Can play 2 positions .

I am expecting Powe to be another signing and then either a wing or PG

Sigh.  I wish people in the media would learn the CBA rules. He needs to be bought out by Tuesday.  He can sign whenever.

I was more quoting him for the point that he will be signing with someone in the East. So we have reports the he agreed to sign in the East and that he is leaning towards Boston. Hopefully it comes true and the Celtics sign him tomorrow.

Co-sign.

And last I checked, Miami, Orlando, and Boston are all in the East.

Per Kawakami's twitter, W's and Murphy have agreed on a buyout.

And Steiny Mo says it's down to Boston and Miami. I feel Boston getting him is good for two reasons now: for his talent and to keep that talent from Miami.

Yeah, none of that criticism is directed toward you, just the people paid to report accurate news.

Even if Murphy is bought out tomorrow, we can't sign him right away.  He still needs to clear waivers, which takes 48 hours.

I'm not happy he got bought out. He might go to Miami, crossing my fingers he comes here. I rather take my chances staying pat than giving opportunities for other teams to grow stronger.

Both Boston and Miami have clear motivation to make sure the other team doesn't get Murphy, as well as the motivation to improve their own depth. Makes me uneasy.

dont get so happy before he is signed...i want him here because he can help with our rebounding and probably a few points...as for defense, i think he can learn and become slightly better since he played for Lawrence Frank and he'll learn from KG...

I firmly believe Murphy is coming to Boston and always has been. No way Ainge gives away Semih and Harangody if some back channel deal isnt already done. On thursday after the trade Danny went on TV and said the team wasnt complete and he was looking for a big man to spread the floor and shoot, and that the fans would like what they seen when the team is finished.
I guess I believe in Ainge.

I don't care what these players might bring for us. Anyone we sign right now will barely get on the floor if at all. We just need to add depth, but the prospects of a player going to a team where he can actually be useful (Miami) is not worth the risk for us.

But we'll see, there's not much we can do about it but see how it plays out.
