Haven't read the other posts yet. IMO too risky with only Delonte at the point backing up. That would mean an injury to either Rondo or Delonte would be devastating, unless Jeff Green can bring the ball over half court with relative ease......
Rondo can't play 48 minutes every game..... especially with all the playoff games in his recent history...
But again, if you're Danny Ainge, what do you pitch Mike Bibby?
Hey Mike, you should come to Boston. It's a great fit for you. Our benches are very comfortable. You'll really like it there as you watch Rondo play 40+ mpg in the playoffs. What's that Mike? Oh yeah, you'll get those 8 mpg...well, that is unless Doc wants to go with Delonte instead. But there's always that shot that one of them goes down...
I know, it'd be nice if Bibby or Ford did that. But I don't know why they would when they could play a much bigger role in Miami.
I agree, those two sound a little decadent for our needs, unless Wafer is not wanted at backup SG and Delonte gets all the backup SG minutes, combined with a determination not to overplay Ray and Paul. Then one of those 2 would be feasible....
But if not one of them still might agree to come aboard (not Bibby please....) if they're given the keys to full-time backup PG next year....I mean, they could watch the playoffs from their living rooms or from the C's bench plus the ring, then take over a much bigger role next year....On the other hand, I'm hoping Avery Bradley is next year's backup SG, and in that scenario Delonte would continue as next year's backup PG...hmmm. I wasn't thinking about those guys, though. I was thinking of someone who can get the ball to to the main guys for 8 to 10 minutes.
Then I had another thought. What if all our PG's went down (sorry guys). How would Ray do as the starting PG alongside Pierce, Jeff Green, KG and Shaq? I actually don't like when Ray handles the ball alot, but I suddenly became curious about that lineup. Maybe doing it for extended minutes he'd suddenly teach himself to be ultra careful with the ball (think Rocky Balboa doing amazing things to overcome the situation....)
