I'm starting to like this trade more by the day; however, it's way too early to make any proclamations like that.  Even if they win #18, we won't know if it's an all time great trade for years.

With Perk out 2-3 weeks at a point in time when we really need a big, the move looks even better. We will not need him as much toward the end of the season when Shaq is healed and JO is ready to grind through the pain (though i expect he may still need days off).

Bad post, this should be posted only when and IF we win the championship this year.

If we dont win or make it to the finals this trade was one of the worst of the year, if not the worst.

Because we were guaranteed a title before?

Haha when did I call anyone ignorant? Are you just saying that out of the blue? The guy made a joke, and you responded to it as though it were a personal attack on you. All I said was "...note the hahaha" showing his sarcasm. And you fired back at me.

Perk's gonna be out for 2-3 weeks. How do we know he doesn't break down after that in the playoffs? Then what? You know, since people are saying that about Shaq and JO....

Green, on the hand, has only missed 7 games this season, and didn't miss a game last season. Anything can happen, but I trust his body to hold up over Perkins, right now, if nothing else.

Krstic played 76 games last season, and has only missed 9 games this season.

Even before going into what they can bring to the team, I feel more confident in them being healthy for the playoffs than Perkins. I won't say they guarantee Banner 18, but neither did Perkins, not by a long shot, and saying us not getting Banner 18 this season means this trade sucked is hilarious.

I think the best trade ever was the one for McHale and Chief for Joe Berry Carroll.

I think its risky with or without Perk. His health is a question mark, we didn't know if he would resign, do we have the big depth without him and can we get some buyout love help.

First time poster to this blog
My thoughts on the trade and I’m probably reiterating a lot of what has been said before but here’s my take on why  I like the trade;
I like the continuity and overall team chemistry that Green will bring when he subs for Pierce. We now have an athletic long 3 that can defend the likes of Kobe Bryant and Lebron James in both size and weight which we did not have on this current team other than Pierce. Daniels and Wafer were just not big enough. Also the significant rebounding contribution that Pierce provides will not be diminished when he is subbed by Green.
Also don’t discount the offensive threat that Green poses – he’ll require “almost” as much attention as Pierce, which means that the likes of Kobe Bryant and Lebron James won’t be able to rest in defence. This will also allow Ray Allen to not be the sole focus of the offence when Pierce is off the court. Allowing him to do what he does best – nail those timely 3s when required. And on a side note, allow Wafer to come in for Allen at the 2 and not be monstered by the bigger 3s. Who was going to effectively guard the 3s when Pierce was off the court before this trade – Pietrus, Gomes or Battier were not walking thru the door.
As for Perkins, he was a very serviceable/important player who provided much needed muscle in the middle. However, the nature of the NBA financial merry-go-round was that he was coming up to his third contract having been signed for “relatively” low money after his rookie contract. I wouldn’t blame him and it would be naive to think that he wouldn’t strive to get the most money he could third time round. Would the Celtics want to sink a significant portion of their salary cap in the future on Perkins. Perkins limitations and injury problems are well documented as are the intangible positives that he brought to the team. However, in reality will there be that much of a drop off with Krstic and possible buyouts in Gadzuric/Delambert?? I know that none of these players have been signed, but given the team’s success without Perkin earlier in the season I would not have thought so.

Ultimately, it was either trade Perk or do nothing of impact because we lacked people to trade. It is possible that Danny managed to sell high to a team that really needed what Perk brings.

Yes, the McHale/Chief deal was great, but better than Bill Russell for the Ice Capades?

You were the person in that thread who had trouble with multiplication.

Problem with multiplication? Seriously? English is my second language so I'm not good at expressing myself. But my mathematics wasn't wrong...my choice of words in that post was...again, a language barrier.

You held some grudge for this long and bring it up now? Haha and I just got a PM saying you went and told mods that my profile was offensive.  You said you have a kid? Seriously? And you go and tell on people still? haha I'll leave this site today before I say something to get banned again.

No grudges. You asked and I just reminded you. Yes, the F word is against the site rules. Why use it if you know the rules?

Where does it say I have a kid? lol...I have no kids. And yes trying to mock me by creating email ids that make fun of username is certainly mensa certified.

Your math wasn't wrong? Do you really want to go over this again? I think this must be what I got banned for earlier. Because all I did was create a post trying to teach you how to multiply, and then I was banned with no explanation (still none to this day).  I didn't even mention you by name. I didn't know your name. I just saw a post that was flawed in it's math and I didn't want other people to be misled.

But yes, your math was very wrong.
