The point I am trying to make is that 5 weeks ago Danny and the Celtics medical staff were 100 percent convinced that if JO took a month off and did all kinds of exercises he would be able to come back without any restrictions. Three weeks later he is having surgery. What I am saying is that in my opinion, they have no better idea now than they did on January 21 whether or not JO is going to be able to come back and be effective.
Here's your quote:
"This is a good option,’’ Ainge said. "I think he feels like if he gets himself in better shape, and [gets] the strength, then he’ll be ready to give us an effort that we haven’t seen this year out of him.’’
Claiming that this means that he's 100% certain that he only needed rest and exercise is quite a stretch.
The other thing to point out is that about three weeks ago or maybe longer they said Shaq was going to miss a game or two with some minor aches and pains.
So he should have rushed Shaq back to meet the timetable that you'd like to see?
What exactly is the point of this? Are you saying that both players are done for the year?
I am saying the Celtics are rarely truthful about injuries. And I like how you took one small part out of Ainge's quoate in my original post. What about these parts:
...we'll take the next four weeks to do nothing but work to build up his glutes and quads, with the sole purpose of that. So he'll be rehabbing to build strength in his leg to get ready for the end of the season.''
"I would say the purpose is to get him ready to play in late-season and postseason play, with no restrictions,'' Ainge said. "I mean, his first night there might be, but the purpose is to get him back 100 percent.''
"But he got a second opinion from a doctor in New York and
our medical staff thinks that he should be back without restriction.''
