He said that rest and exercise and not surgery was the way to go and that he expected JO to be back in plenty of time for the playoffs with little or no restrictions. Of course, we all know what happened about three weeks after this statement was made:

"This is a good option,’’ Ainge said. "I think he feels like if he gets himself in better shape, and [gets] the strength, then he’ll be ready to give us an effort that we haven’t seen this year out of him.’’

...we'll take the next four weeks to do nothing but work to build up his glutes and quads, with the sole purpose of that. So he'll be rehabbing to build strength in his leg to get ready for the end of the season.''

"I would say the purpose is to get him ready to play in late-season and postseason play, with no restrictions,'' Ainge said. "I mean, his first night there might be, but the purpose is to get him back 100 percent.''

"I mean, there's no guarantee, but I think the wear and tear on the knee, he might have overdone it - he wasn't in as good a shape as he could have been, maybe came back a little too soon,'' Ainge said. "But he got a second opinion from a doctor in New York and our medical staff thinks that he should be back without restriction.''

Hope so. I recall Dany saying that KG would be back for the playoffs at one time too.

These quotes are pointless considering JO went ahead and had the surgery just a few weeks later.

JO and Ainge know much more than we do about his rehab.

You'd have to believe Jermaine is feeling good now for Ainge to pull the trigger like he did.

The quotes are not pointless. I am reposting them to show that sometimes even Danny Ainge nor the medical team have any clue what is going on with injuries -- like with KG two years ago --which is why I put very little faith in what they are saying about JO and Shaq being healthy.

If you want to play that game maybe they were wrong about Perk's most recent knee injury too and he really is hurt bad.

I understand your aprehension to do so but all we can do is take what these guys are telling us at face value.

The trade makes no sense at all if management knows Shaq and JO wont be ready to go.

Agree, I think they are both recovering otherwise the deal doesn't make sense.

Yes.  That's the difference.  It's one thing for Danny to say that and not mean it, even with KG.  It's another thing to trade Perk and give away Erden unless he really thought that Jermaine was healthy.

talks about the surgery.

“[The surgery] was exactly what [McKeon] thought and he thought that was the best solution from the beginning. It just took Jermaine a little while to get on board with that.’’

While the decision was very difficult for Jermaine, he knew it was the best option as far as giving him a chance to be as close to 100% as possible for a playoff run.

“I know I haven’t been out there much this year, but I promise I will be there when the Cs need me the most! That I guarantee,” Jermaine posted to his Twitter account yesterday.

‘“BANNER #18” and if you are a Cs fan, then you know exactly what I’m talking about! That’s my focus and determination dealing with rehab!”

yep that is Jermaine's web page

I took the diabolical libery of asking him how his recovery is going and stated we really could use him once he is recovered.  ( crosses fingers) Let's hope he answers.

Bingo, actions speak much louder than words.

Unless they feel Perk will never be close to the player he was and was iffy at best for the rest of this year.

There's a lot of space between don't have a clue and don't know exactly how much an injury will heal in the next month. Surgery is always an option but isn't always the only option. Electing to try other ways to resolve an issue before trying surgery is far from unheard of.

So was wondering how you found JO's website. Do you know what BBD's website is because I'd sure like to go there? Thanks.

I don't have much hope of JO coming back in top form and ready to go. We've been told too many times that nothing is wrong (various players) when in actuality, everything is wrong.

Though I can't say I blame them for keeping away from bad news. It's not just us hearing it, it's the other teams and coaches. We don't want to show them all of our cards and have them making plans.

McHale said that Danny told him that Perk was going to be a FA and he didn't want to lose him for nothing.
