I wish I could find the quote, but KG said just a few weeks ago that he hates playing center.

  He says that a lot, but there's a difference between playing center againt Howard or playing center against Z or Noah.

And there is also a big difference between doing it for 10 minutes a game, or doing it full time.

Not to mention, KG has been doing this all year, as they have had him finishing games with Davis.  That is really no different than finishing them with Green.

We went to this lineup with Posey at the 4 on a regular basis, including closing out games, during the Championship run and it was widly successful.  Rondo is at his best with an open lane and being able to stretch the floor.  We even played Posey a full 10 MPG more than Perk during the series against the dreaded Lakers bigs.  News flash, THEY'RE SOFT!  Green is a little bigger and more athletic than Posey, too, so it's a small lineup that's actually larger than our small lineups that were successful in the past.  I don't think this is a joke at all.

to be fair Bynum did not play in the finals in 08

but that's why we have Shaq, JO (hopefull) and a buyout

If Doc ends up playing Big Baby more than 30 minutes a night because Krstic can't give us anything, then my head is going to explode.

Please, please let Krstic be at least decent. If he's not, we are SCREWED.

This is what they won the championship with in 2008, so I don't see why this would be a problem.  They wouldn't do it all the time, but it is a great advantage to be able to go to that option.

Using it for a couple of games in the playoffs is not the same as saying they won the championship with a lineup that featured KG at the center position. They can't win a title with KG mostly playing center. Doc know that is true.

This is obviously opinion, but I think Krstic is going to surprise some people.  He has a good offensive arsenal and athleticism for a 7-footer, and has a decent jumper.  He lacks a little on D, but we play a rotation D anyway, so he just has the know the system, which will obviuosly take a little time.  I think we are going to be pleasantly surprised by what he brings to the offensive end, and how he opens the game up for Rondo a little more than we're used to.

With this lineup KG stays at PF though, no? Yeah it's playing small but not really as BBD is a big body and plays C

the problem is, i could care less about krstic's marginally better offense... that's what rajon rondo, paul pierce, ray allen, and kevin garnett are for. what this team needed/needs is a solid defender who can REBOUND. Krstic is an abysmal rebounder for a 7 foot center.

i'm already having flashbacks of getting out-rebounded by the lakers last june. this trade is awful

Why is everyone thinking Green will play the end of games. I don't think he will. It will still be Davis. Green is there to spell Pierce and maybe play some spot 4, but Doc's keeping the same crunch-time lineup.

kg wont always play the 5 to end games. against the magic, he will not be guarding dwight. that will be where bbd probably ends the games with garnett at the 4.

but for instance, when miami gets haslem back, i assume they will close with him at the 5. kg can handle him. i think he can handle noah too. and gasol. and STAT (sorta). we basically cant use that lineup of green at the 4 and kg at the 5 when bynum, howard, dampier are in the game.

Which also means he is a step slower, which makes him a better matchup against centers rather than the quicker PFs.

I think Krstic's offense is more than "marginally better".  Perk is considered below average on offense for a center.  Krstic is considered to be above-average.

I too think we will do this often.  However, KG is taller than his listed 6-11 by several inches.  He probably closer to 7'1" though he isn't a center.  I 've seen him be taller than a seven footer before.

I think we are more flexible than before which is a good thing.
