Ive mentioned in posts before that I think ainge has long term plans for Gallon as a celtic. I wonder if this effected there wiliness to trade away semi and gody

With 3 roster spots available the celtics will likely sign Murphy after he is bought out and then add a wing (kapono, mo peterson?)

with the 3rd spot i wouldnt be suprised if the Cs bring on Gallon as there long term big man project. why else would they have signed him in the preseason to secure him for the red claws if they didnt see him as a possible future player?

I think Danny traded those guys away to bring in guys they would feel comfortable with playing playoff minutes.  While Gallon could figure in down the road (I wouldn't count on it though), I really don't see him being signed this year.

I think the fans are higher on him than Danny is in all honesty.  I don't think he figures in our plans as anything but a stop gap.

I'm much more interested in Sean Williams. He had some troubles, but is putting up nearly identical numbers as Chris Johnson this year, and has better NBA Center size.

Funny you should mention him.  I was thinking of him last night watching Johnson.  I had no idea where he was.  Such a bunch wasted potential Williams has been.

it might be true that the fans are higher on him then danny but the fact that the Cs went out of there way to get him on there D league team and have him as the starting center has to say somthing about his potential

perk came to the Cs as an out of shape 6'10 300+ pound teen and the coaching and traning staffs (along with his work ethic) created the player he is today

gallon is a very similare physical mold, is more explosive around the rim, and already has more offence then perk will ever have, if he put even close to the work in that perk did he will be a solid nba player down the road

The problem is, without watching him everyday, I am not sure how easy it is to tell if he is actually playing well in the D-league.

Williams never had a problem putting up stats.  His problems (other than the off the court stuff) was with learning the plays/system, and finding a way to play within them.  Until he can prove he can do that, it really won't matter what kind of stats he can put up in the NBDL.

True, it'd be nice to watch him. this was a recent tidbit from someone else:

Former first round draft pick Sean Williams had a solid week on the floor, but the feedback we heard about him off it may have caught our attention most. On the court, Williams remains the same highly athletic defensive presence that he was in the college game, but word is that Williams has been a model citizen off the court for the Texas Legends. Becoming a first-to-arrive, last-to-leave type, Williams seems to have matured past the issues he had off the floor in the past to focus on his basketball career.

An effective complementary scorer thanks to his length and athleticism, Williams still hasn't developed a terribly polished post repertoire. However, he has shown that he hasn't lost a step as a rebounder and shot blocker. Whether he's rotating over from the weakside, defending the midrange, or crashing the boards, Williams makes an impact with his physical tools and energy. A top-call up candidate due to his terrific combination of size, athleticism, length and shot-blocking ability, Williams will earn himself a roster spot in the NBA sooner rather than later if he can continue to make good decisions off the floor.

The other problem with Williams is that a lot of his off the court stuff stemmed from coming back to Boston and visiting friends from BC.  While he has supposedly behaved himself in Texas, I am not sure how smart it would be to bring him back here.

I'm sure most of his BC buddies have moved on by now. Why not bring him in for a look-see?

The D-League games can be watched via their website. I watched a couple of games from Maine (when Bradley was playing there) and Tiny Gallon looks very far from impressive. In fact, in one of those games he was matched up with Chris Johnson and thoroughly outplayed. In the other one he matched with Cole Aldrich, the rookie from the Thunder, and didn't look much better. He needs to work on his body, he doesn't seem to be in the shape of a NBA player. Some very immature plays too, weak motor. Very far from being a contributor for a NBA team. The guy I liked from Maine was their other big, Simms, but he's kind of smallish for the NBA.

Sean Williams is playing for Nancy Lieberman in Dallas, right? With Joe Alexander. I'll try to catch one of their games to take a look at them one of these days.

gallon, williams, of johnson either way I think the Cs should keep 1 young big man project on the roster. The celtics mix of great coaches, great vets and a winning system are a good formula for developing young players. Bad teams have a tendency to develop me first players who put up numbers but are not winners, good teams like the Cs are perfect for developing winning players who play the game the right way.

My reasoning for wanting Gallon is his potential as a scorer. I know its a long shot but if  Tiny ever works himself into shape around 270lbs and plays a couple seasons under KG and baby then we could have a boozer/randolph like player. More then likely this doesnt happen but I think its worth the shot.

Gody and Semih were getting experience playing with a pro team, why would Danny trade them to make Tiny Gallon their replacement? He is a D leaguer now and he is going to be for quite some time.
