I like this trade. I love Perk, BUT:
1. In Green, we get a 3/4 who is long, athletic and versatile: our new 6th man. Don't underestimate him and Doc loves him and while he is good now, still has upside.
2. Aside from the possibility of not signing Perk next year and probably losing him for nothing to a team like OKC who would be able to pay him a ton (and we get Green), there was absolutely no guaranty that Perk was going to be durable enough this year for us to count on him. And, unlike Green, Perk has reached his ceiling, and physically may be headed downhill.
3. Perk, while a better than average defender, was that in a large sense because of KG (not the other way around) and the defensive system we employ.
4. Kristic, while not a great individual defender, has enough mobility to play decent help defense in our system.
5. Except for the Magic and the Lakers (and I don't think they make the Finals)this makes us stronger match-up wise with the Heat, Bulls, Spurs and Mavs.
