I don't know if this is the venting thread but I just got up here in Au.

What on earth? I really don't like these moves.

Can someone please explain to me the Erden/Luke to CLE for a 2nd rounder trade? I just cannot understand that.

U G H. ugh.

Danny and probably Doc (who both know far far far more about these players and basketball than anyone on this blog) obviously felt that neither of them were NBA players. Clearly Harangody isn't. Semih has shown flashes of competence, but lately has looked absolutely awful, and will never ever be anything better than a serviceable backup. We are gonna add more players through buy outs and we needed the roster spot and we got a 2nd round pick also. Definitely not a BAD trade. We didn't lose anything.

What I don't get is, if we were going to move Marquis anyway, why do this deal too?  Are we really expecting to find 3 quality buyout guys?

It is Minnesota's 2nd, which means we got a little value back, at least.

I think we want all 3 spots. Troy Murphy, Rasual Butler or Kapono, Rasheed?

There is absolutely no guarantee that the Celtics will sign Troy Murphy.

Troy Murphy may not sign with us...Miami and Orlando are in the mix too.

Rip has already declined a buyout...he's back on Piston's bench.

...and Sheed isn't coming back either.

You're right.  But I give Danny enough credit to assume he wouldn't make these moves without being very confident in picking Murphy up.  We'll see, though.

Nobody yell at me, but we do have enough roster spots to experiment with a big like Courtney Sims or Sean Williams from the D-League if we don't get many buy out options. Obviously neither would do as well as they are in the D-league (or even close), but either may be able to play some minutes, rebound, defend a little and finish when open. Williams may finally have his head on and is putting together a 14.5/9.5/3.5 block season on .584 shooting and obviously has size. Sims is a guy who should probably be a bench NBA big soon, with a 17.1/9.8/1.1 blocks.

Not ideal, but good useful players do come out of the d-league.

Earl Barron could be an option now?

Can you add a probably or most likely into statements like that. We don't know that sheed is not coming back. He probably isn't. But it's not certain. And that quote, from an unnamed source, is far from definitive.

Everyone all together now: Rip already turned down a chance to become a free agent via a buyout.

Here is your source. If a news reporter who spoke to Raheed is not definitive, then I don't know what is.
