Kendrick Perkins Appreciation Thread

While your point is kind of fair Roy...I would have thought this thread would allow discussion on whether Perkins should be appreciated or not at the moment due to his poor play.

Would a "this trade was insignificant" thread only allow people who agreed with my point to reply?

It's an appreciation thread.  That has a specific meaning.  Heck, our rules speak to almost this exact issue:

Posters should appreciate that in many instances, commentary that would otherwise be appropriate may not be appropriate in a specific thread (i.e., bringing up rumors of alleged cocaine use by a beloved player in a tribute thread dedicated to the memory of that player, etc.)

Appreciation / tribute threads are different than other threads.  Similarly, in the "all optimism" thread we have, we don't allow negative comments.

If you have an undying need to say negative things about Perk, please do it in one of the dozens of other threads on the subject.  Maybe, rather than accuse me of bias, you could examine your own personal feelings here, and recognize that we're only enforcing the long-standing rules on this blog.

Why? I think when it's all said and done, both OKC and BOS will make out in this trade...I really do.

Jeff (and Nenad, too) seemed to making strides there towards the end of the MIA series.

With a full training camp, both will be even better acclimated to what Boston does.

Perk, while clearly not quite himself this season, will be fully healed next season. He and Serge will form a formidable frontline to matchup with MEM and LA for next few years, plus they have Nick Collison and Nazr backing them up.

Most of us miss Perk, but he'll be fine.

I know the playoffs are over for us....but did anybody see how Perkins stood up for his ex-team mates and still talked smack about the Heat after the trade.

Kendrick Perkins no longer wears a Celtics uniform, but he still knows how to bash Boston's rivals. Last week, the Thunder center called Lakers coach Phil Jackson "arrogant" and center Pau Gasol "soft." On Sunday, he scrutinized players on the Miami Heat.

"Each guy feels they have a matchup to their advantage against Miami," Perkins told the paper. "They take it a lot personal when they play them."

"Dwyane falls asleep a lot," Perkins said. "He doesn't like to guard screen-and-rolls, and that's what Ray specializes in. Dwyane doesn't like to get picked. He's a good on-the-ball defender as far as a guy dribbling, but he struggles getting over screens."

Perkins doesn't think the younger Chris Bosh is able to slow down veteran forward Kevin Garnett, either.

"I definitely don’t think so," Perkins added. "I know KG takes it personal when he goes against Bosh."

With or without Perkins, the Celtics still have the former big man on their side in that matchup.

I agree that the trade was probably for the better for both teams...but that doesn't mean I don't miss Perkins and his perpetual scowl.
