If Denver is blowing it up, they have absolutely no use for K-Mart and Nene is getting up there in age as well (28) for a rebuilding team. So, what team could use a bolstered front court.... ?
Miami trades:
Chris Bosh, Mike Miller, Udonis Haslem
Denver trades:
K-Mart, Nene, Ty Lawson, '11 first round pick
No brainer for Denver, right? Although they love Lawson, they just got a very solid starting PG in Felton who gets paid way too much to be a backup. They now put out Felton/Afflalo/Gallinari/Bosh/Anderson with lots of quality bench players in JR, Chandler, Miller, Haslem, and Mozgov who they must like. Not too bad considering they got way younger and will actually remain competitive going forward despite losing 'Melo. Remember, the West is not going to be what it was going forward without many all stars left there.
What about Miami? I think they are too in love with their Big 3 to trade one of them away and actually pull the trigger on this deal. But let's face it: they don't need Miller AT ALL. James Jones does what he does, maybe even better, at much cheaper. What they need is some strength, toughness, and rebounding in the front court and a PG. Well, this gets them bigger and tougher in the front court and a good PG. Only drawback: they will lose their PF very soon to age. I think it is way easier to get a starting PF with the MLE though than it is a PG or C. Draft pick could also help them fill PF or backup PF.
Do I think Miami will do it? No. They won't split up this Big 3 for at least another year or 2 - not even for Amare. They are committed to it. I think they should consider it though to address their bigger needs.
