A friend of mine posed the question, and I thought it was interesting enough to post: Where does CP3 land now?

If the Nets retain D-Will obviously they're off the list.
It seems like the Knicks would have to acquire him by trade based off of how much they'll have Melo & Amare on the books for
Magic would be way over the cap
Lakers would be way over the cap
Celtics have Rondo

I don't see how though. They'd need to trade for him, and at best they have a package of Billups, Fields and maybe a pick for him?

If Bynum can be healthy + productive and LA fail to protect their title, I think the Lakers are one of the frontrunners for Chris Paul.

Jerry Buss would go all out to get CP3 in LA. Bring in a new fast-breaking showtime Lakers with Paul running the show.

Someone ought to be able to trump that offer. Knicks have no real assets left to trade for a third superstar.

Orlando seems to be wheeling-and-dealing a lot the last few years.  Trading for Vince Carter, trading for Jason Richardson, trading for Hedu Turkoglu, trading for Gilbert Arenas.  And who knows if they'll be able to flip Jason Richardson's expiring contract for something in the next day or so.

And unlike other teams, their only untradeable asset is Dwight Howard (whereas the Knicks aren't going to trade Amare/Melo, and the Heat aren't going to trade Wade/LeBron/Bosh).

While not the ideal trading partner due to a lack of a true up-and-coming young guy, they have big salaries that they're willing to move to make a trade work.  Maybe they could look better in a 3 team trade.

Any big salary (other than Dwight), some combination of solid players like Jammeer Nelson, Brandon Bass, JJ Reddick, Chris Duhon, and throw in some picks.  I could see them making something work.

Dallas always seems to be in conversations too, they're willing to spend, and always have several quality assets (but maybe not always young up-and-coming players rebuilding teams like).

Obviously my scenarios require a trade though, but that's how I think Chris Paul is going to move.

CP3 is going to be in NY next season. Melo+Amare+CP3 made the pact to join forces and play together, its going to happen.

All this nonsense about cap space, and blah blah blah, trust me, NY will find a way and CP3 will be in a Knick next year, count on that.

Boston pulls a Miami.
Signs Dwight Howard and pulls a sign-and-trade with the Hornets built around Chris Paul for Rondo.

Perk gets traded in a separate deal to fill in some other holes around the Chris Paul, Paul Pierce, Dwight Howard lineup.

Ray Allen and KG either comes out of retirement at the All-Star break (ala PJ Brown, Reggie Miller rumors) or they sign for the vet minimum to make one more run at their 3rd or 4th championship rings.

Danny being Danny, fills in the other gaps well.

You mean in a Bynum for Paul trade?

NYC. He will take less money to go there. Only in a trade with Boston can I see him going somewhere else.

Dark horse is the Clippers if their owner sells the team.

Bledsoe + Kaman + Aminu + Picks & Cash for CP3

Yep ... plus some other assets. Future first rounders.

That would be a scary LA team, especially if they can find someone to spell Kobe so he doesn't have to play big minutes in the regular season. Thank goodness he is declining.

To me there's no doubt about it he's going to the Knicks. From that "pact" they made together back at the beginning of the season, although they brushed it off and said it was said as a joke/light hearted.

Don't forget he tried to force a trade at the beginning of this season..then the NBA took control of the Hornets and they will for sure not trade him.

Melo went to the Knicks, not for the money(although that was part of the reason), not to play with his friends, but according to him, to WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP! Sorry but you're not winning a championship with an oooold Billups that doesn't want to be there, Melo, Amare, and random pieces like Fields, Turiaf, Douglas, etc. Lebron and Bosh went to Miami to win a championship, and even they are at least a year away from winning one, they need to get more pieces. It would take even longer than that for NY to fill out their roster with just Amare/Melo/Fields(I don't count on Billups being there for long)

I know there's money/salary cap restrictions, but they will find a way to make it work.
