I don't like Moon but he would be better than nothing. Hope we can get someone better though.
I mean, he's a body. Only hitting the longball at a 27% clip this season, and only 32% last year. 40% from the field. Doesn't seem to rebound a lot. Not really sure if he's a good defender or not. I'm sure he'd fit into the rotation, but not really a guy that I'd want to get rid of anybody for.
The only money Rip would leave on the table would be dollars he's almost certain to command on his next contract. Still doubt that he gets bought out, but you figure that Rip would almost certainly command something close to the full MLE if he was a free agent, so maybe he takes a gamble that he can recoup some monies he leaves in Detroit for a shot at winning. It would be a gamble on his part, though, moreso with the continued labor uncertainties.
