Yeah, sorry, but this is a terrible trade proposal. Not only does Semih look like a nice player going forward, we absolutely need him this year, considering the injury issues with Shaq and JO. Perk needs to have his minutes cut back. I like Parker, but let's get real...he hits shots when he's open, plays decent D, and is on his last legs. That's worth a 2nd round pick, nothing more.

What is this fascination with Semih Erden? He's a mediocre 3rd-string center in the NBA.  He was a mediocre 2nd-string center on the Turkish national team.  He's 24.  He was the 60th pick in the draft.

Anthony Parker is a legitimate rotation wing player.  Excellent shooter, solid passer and ballhandler, smart, disciplined, decent defensively.

And Rasual Butler?  Why so much love?  One trick pony who left his one trick (3-point shot) in New Orleans.  Can't get off the bench for a crappy Clippers team.

Erden is a legit potential who has already proven he can contribute as a rookie, not knowing the system and playing with a shoulder that needs surgery. He is not your regular 3rd string center and he is way better than Parker who is very close to washed up and definitely wouldn't even be mentioned with the C's had Marquis not been injured.

How is Parker washed up?  Last year he started 81 games for a team that one 61.  His per minute number are the same or better this year with the exception of shooting efficiency, which is the result of him having to take more, unassisted mid-range shots (understandable given the dearth of offensive options on that decimated Cavs team).

He still makes very good decisions with the ball (2.7 assists per turnover, 4 assists per 40 minutes), shoots a sparkling 40% from 3 and plays smart defense.

No he's not the player he was with Toronto, but he's still very serviceable as a back-up wing and much better than Rasual Butler or Semih Erden.

As for Erden, what kind of potential are you seeing?  He's an NBA rookie yes, but he's a 24 year old with plenty of professional experience.  Other than a little bit better defensive positioning, I think we're seeing him mostly at his peak right now.  I watched him throughout the World Championships against Team USA and other Euro big men and I've seen nothing to suggest that he can become more than what he is now: a limited offensive big man who can move his feet on defense but can't rebound at a high level.  Jarron Collins level potential?

Honestly I don't really care about Parker's stats. What I've seen from him in the playoffs against us really didn't impress me, he didn't hit his wide open shots (and he got plenty of them), got burned by Ray on D... Sure he is solid during the season but I think all the talk about his experience and the fact he is a proven vet is overblown. Simply put I don't think you can rely on him in the playoffs, even for limited minutes.

As for Erden I have not seen tremendous potential but centers are hard to find. Still, he found playing time as a rookie under Doc's coaching (which is no easy feat) and while playing (and it's still the case) injured. I'm not saying he is a legit starting center but to me he is at least a Leon Powe/Big Baby kind of guy if we keep him and make him mature. I'm not counting on him for the playoffs this year but it would be a mistake to deal him for Anthony Parker in my opinion. For a legit efficient/proven wing who makes a difference in the playoffs, I would trade Semih in a heartbeat. For Parker... no way.

Parker didn't hit his wide-open shots against us in the playoffs?  The guy shot 11-21 from deep for the series, and 50% from the field!  He nails wide-open shots as well as anyone in the game (including Ray Allen).

And IIRC Ray did most of his damage on Mo Williams, while Parker was shredded by Rondo.

Honestly I'm sure if you break down Parker's made 3's in this series you will find out he hit most of the them when game was out of reach for either team (garbage time or equivalent). I just recall him missing wide open shots when the game mattered and not doing a great impression on me on all the other aspects of the game. You're right he defended (and got shredded) by Rondo, but still, would you be comfortable with the idea of Parker defending on LeBron, Wade or Kobe, even in limited minutes? I know I wouldn't and his offensive "game" doesn't make up for that weakness in my opinion.

Have we seen anything that has said Shaq is going to be out for the playoffs?  If not, then it seems like a very logical trade.  Semih already needs surgery this offseason, and is an unknown commodity for the future.  We know what we would get out of Parker and it is exactly what we need.  I'm not saying this is our plan A, but it would definitely be the plan if it had to be.

I don't think JMoon is a good plan, because he can't hit the 3 ball.
I would love to have Rip but he is just an upgrade at the SG position.  We need someone that can handle the Odom.

How bout

Powe and Parker for Erden,Luke and Bradley

IMO, even though this trade helps our rotation, I could see it being more lopsided favoring Cleveland. Is Bradley worth a 1st?

Either way, Powe knows the system. Parker slides right in next to Nate/West,Wafer,Davis and Shaq
Can't stop, Rondo!

Interesting.

The tweeter-verse is speculating that the Bulls are trying to acquire Anthony Parker with picks.

Google "Anthony Parker", and check the realtime results.

Some Bulls fans don't seem happy about that, though.

Hmm. Can the C's get in on this with picks? Possible crash course on trade deadline for sure.

Trade Semih for Parker, then Daniels, N Rob and Bradley to Portland for Camby. Sick.

To be fair, Kobe only shot 8-24 against the Cavaliers when the Lakers lost 104-99 to them. I dunno if Parker was guarding him most of the time, but I'd have to assume so.

Lebron is one thing, but I Don't see why Parker couldn't guard Wade or Kobe in limited minutes, if need be. He outweighs Kobe by 5 pounds and only gives up 10 to Wade.

Outside of all that, I agree that Erden's worth too much to give him away for Parker. Then again, if the Bulls plan on trying to get Parker with picks, I don't see why the Celtics can't attempt that game, too...
