No, we need Erden with the health of the O'Neal brothers.

Do we need Erden specifically, or just anyone to back up Perkins?

We need a center who can learn our system on defense, play tough defense, and not screw up the offense. Semih already knows the system, has great hands and a soft touch, and plays solid defense. Not to mention he has very good potential to be a solid starting center one day. I would still do the trade if we could be sure that either Shaq or JO would be fine through the playoffs, but they likely wont be.

He does not have great hands!  He has terrible hands.  It's the main reason he's a poor rebounder.  One bump and the ball goes flying off his fingertips.  It's also why he can't post up without turning the ball over.  He doesn't have a strong grip on the ball.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

What is this fascination with Semih Erden? He's a mediocre 3rd-string center in the NBA.  He was a mediocre 2nd-string center on the Turkish national team.  He's 24.  He was the 60th pick in the draft.

Anthony Parker is a legitimate rotation wing player.  Excellent shooter, solid passer and ballhandler, smart, disciplined, decent defensively.

And Rasual Butler?  Why so much love?  One trick pony who left his one trick (3-point shot) in New Orleans.  Can't get off the bench for a crappy Clippers team.

Erden is a legit potential who has already proven he can contribute as a rookie, not knowing the system and playing with a shoulder that needs surgery. He is not your regular 3rd string center and he is way better than Parker who is very close to washed up and definitely wouldn't even be mentioned with the C's had Marquis not been injured.

As the only injured backup C that is reported close to coming back, you can't trade him.  Size kills in the NBA.  He has size and the ability to play 10-15 minutes.

yeh parker is washed up, but we're not asking him to be a starter? with his experience and talent, all he needs to do is provide us with good 20 minutes production

Then let's do this instead:

Daniels and Erden for Parker and Powe.

Powe has reportedly asked Cleveland for a buyout. He wants minutes. Why not bring him back? He knows the system, plays hard. I daresay he could put up Semi's numbers.

Jamario Moon has also reportedly asked for a buyout, but I'd rather have Parker.

The Cavs have been working the phones, but are not interested in a quick fix -- not that there's even one available. Rather, they hope to acquire help and build for the future. Yes, there have been calls about Antawn Jamison, Anthony Parker and Ramon Sessions, among others. But the Cavs are seeking either unprotected No. 1 draft choices or size, like Chicago's Omer Asik or Boston's Semih Erden, and teams are reluctant to give up either.

Ok.  Who is next on the list of players available via trade?

I think what they're asking for is ridiculous for a mediocre player like Parker.

Uh, let's slow down. It's not like Cleveland is asking that much for Parker, who by the way is a very good player.

Semih's definitely the more valuable at this point.

Because the Powe/Davis front court never worked.  Both were to similarly short.  Both were much better with KG or Perk or someone with height out there.

(not to mention the Powe/Davis debates on here)

plus, has Powe shown he is back to what he was?

Yeah, if Powe were healthy he'd be able to get minutes.

How about trading them a 1st rounder instead of Semih?

Given shaq and jo's health, we simply cannot give up erden.

Nope.  Parker is not that much better than guys they can get off the street.  Semih isn't going to be a star, but you don't give up a young 7 footer who can already hold his own for something like that.

I have a feeling the price is going to come down as it gets closer to the deadline however.

Hasn't played in over a month. But I don't know if that's a CD, or injury related.

Look at the bright side Celtics have assets at the end of the bench that other teams want. Celtics haven't had that luxury since the Big3 formation. Don't know what to make of this trade. I trust Danny Ainge.

This trade may be what Luke was born for.  Sure, they want Semih, but in the next 48 hours would Luke or Luke and a 2nd do it?
