Chris Mannix says Troy Murphy's most likely destination if bought out is Orlando, and Rip Hamilton's is chicago, while also stating that the celtics have very limited options to replace Daniels and may just have to settle for a D-league player.

Not a good sign if that is indeed how things work out. We would lose our backup SF, while other teams (orlando and chicago) would strengthen their biggest weaknesses. I hope Ainge has a solid plan because without Daniels we are very vulnerable in a 7 game series.

OK, first off, the Rip Hamilton buy out stuff needs to stop.  It just makes no sense, and I really think there is no basis behind it.

I also really hope Murphy goes to Orlando and not Miami.  He certainly makes Orlando better, but I think they are so far behind the C's, he is not going to put them over the top...but if he goes to Miami, he could make a big difference.

I also think he is missing some of the most likely guys the C's would go after to solidify the SF spot.

If we get back Delonte and one of the O'Neals (and possibly Semih) we'll have improved more than anyone else probably will.

Well, he is a significantly better SG than all of them, and would immediately be their starting SG.  He really would be a perfect fit.

The problem is, he isn't getting bought out.

If we are going to talk about ridiculous buyouts that aren't going to happen though, how about Posey?  He has less money and years left than Rip.  A buyout of him is just as likely as Rip IMO.

I agree.  Although they would still need to find that backup SF, but with those guys back, it won't be hard to find someone who can fill the role they need.

Because none of those twos can produce the offensive production that Rip can.

As long as we grab someone who can play 10 minutes of defense at the 3 we'll be fine.  Like BballTim said getting Shaq and Delonte will be better than anyone else available.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

By the trade deadline we could have Shaq, Delonte, and Erden again. Who else can say that?  :P

Well, we'll only need to beat Chicago OR Orlando, probably not both (unless one of them eliminates Miami).

Delonte Shaq, and Erden will help a lot, sure, but we are not getting banner 18 if we don't get a solid SF to come off the bench. The Daniels injury may kill us, and Ainge should have prepared for it knowing much more of Daniels injury history than we did.

  • Another undersized Celtic...

Couldn't agree more. The best addition we could get is healthy bodies. It seems highly doubtful Quis will make it back, but the way Wafer is playing and the fact that he's going to get a bunch of minutes the rest of the way, I feel pretty good about things. If we could pick up someone like Anthony Parker or maybe as a stretch, Stackhouse or someone like that, I'd be pretty happy. Even though I don't think either can play defense at a high level, they can both still fill it up and wouldn't be getting a ton of minutes.

Also, don't stop the presses just yet, but... contenders may get worse and the Celtics may get better at the deadline!

The Daniels injury may kill us, and Ainge should have prepared for it knowing much more of Daniels injury history than we did.

Daniels isn't coming back, and the Von Wafer/Harangody combo is Daniels' current replacement.  As the third wing, that combo is remarkably good.

My preferred outcome would be that Daniels gets traded with a draft pick for another wing (or cut, and another wing brought aboard -- Rodney Carney?).

Parker yes, Stackhouse no.  At least Parker tries to play defense and is more athletic than Stack.

A source says, I didn't see any deal that really made anyone much better in all this hearsay.  All speculation with unlisted sources about as reliable as one of us proposing a trade.

Joe Alexander is a chance I would look at possibly though as a D league call up.  He has killed in the D league and is athletic but its D League of course.  He can block shots but his overall defense is mediocre at best.
