So do the Sheed haters still think he would be bad for this team?

Find me another big man that will be available to sign that would be a better option. There is none . Sheed already knows the defensive system,  he can space the floor ( even if he only shoots 33% 3-9 from 3, that is like 50% 4-8 from 2). Because he plays center he brings the opposing big men away from the basket opening lanes for other PP ,Rondo, Nate, West . He is still a very good low post defender , a good low post offensive player and passer.

I know that he hasn't played all year, but that might be a good thing to give his body some rest and rejuvenate it a little. If he comes back by march 1st( which is the deadline to sign players so they are available for the playoffs) that would give him about a month and a half to get back into basketball shape.

We can't count on Shaq's health or JO. Semih has injury concerns too and is a rookie . If Shaq goes down in the playoffs the C's would be screwed at the center position ( Perk can only play 30 mins at the most)

He was an out-of-shape, lazy and unmotivated player last year - while he was playing. I can only imagine how bad he'd be after not picking up a basketball since last June. And I might add - that he only shot 28% from 3 last year. I think the chances of him shooting 33% are slim at best.

I know he struggled in the regular season, but he shot 34% from 3 in the playoffs.

So you are going to feel secure about the C's big men going into the playoffs? I love what shaq gives this team, but he is 38 and takes a lot of contact. There is a pretty good chance he gets hurt in the playoffs. You can't count on JO and Semih is a rookie.

And if not , who would you want to bring in for big men? because I don't see any other big men who have the skill and experience sheed does in big games.

You'd have to cut someone to bring Sheed in. I am not willing to cut anybody on the team as currently constituted for a Rasheed who is one year removed from being a disaster of a signing.

if we are going after sheed, better get him now so that he can get in some kind of shape by play offs. also negotiate a clause limiting him to 2 3 point shot attempts per game.

Shaq played two games? Then peaced for another 6 months....what?
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

not necessarily, Danny could do a 2 for 1 trade to get a backup SF and that would open a roster spot for sheed.

So you are not willing to cut Harnongody to sign a proven experienced playoff tested Big man ? I could see why Wyc wouldn't want Danny to because he would have to eat Gody's contract next year too, but why would you be against that ?

More "truth" from the Celtics about player injuries. I honestly get so tired of the lieing from this team. Really frustrating.

With the constant swirl of rumors that haunt the league your tired from the Celtics "lying"?

Wow, Shaq is a wreck, JO is like J Lo. Who needs them. More of an entertainment attraction then athletes. I mean really, these 2 guys would get a ring? I'd give em an earring.

I could live with cutting Luke. Seems like a great kid and may have some potential, but this team is in win-now mode and he can't cover the 3's we would need him too, nor do I trust him defending PF's and rebounding as much as I would 'Sheed.

Or, if we decide 'Quis is unfit to return, we can simply cut him, as he is a FA after this year. That would truly be a waste of a roster spot, as keeping him in street clothes until July or cutting him would have the same effect. But let's wait and see what happens with his diagnosis first.

We could also do a trade. There are many options DA could pursue, but whether he wants to blow up the unity and chemistry is the question.

Nobody expected Shaq to play alot of games this season, we expected him to be a big body in the paint once the playoffs started. Everything Sheed wasnt.

What we didnt expect was JO to be out permanenetly and our 3rd string Center to be out as well.

Did anyone know about Semih Erden? He was like a hidden gem buried in our bench behind J.O. and Shaq that got all of the attention.

Semih is better then JO also.

I'm guessing he wasn't referring to the Miami Heat game  :)

From Boston Herald

According to general manager Danny Ainge, surgery on Shaq’s sore Achilles tendon is not on the table — at least not right now.

“No surgery,” Ainge said. “The problem is that often you don’t know the timetable with injuries. It’s just that his Achilles is really bothering him right now.” .

Ok, now i'm really scared

Yeah I am a little worried about this. Those 38 year old ligaments dont heal the same as they used to. If Shaq needs surgery Im worried if he'll be able to get healthy in time for the playoffs.

Doc said today that Shaq will play in some games of the post-ASW road-trip so he should be OK. I definitely agree that surgery would be scary but I don't think it will come to that if he is cleared to play soon.

chris frosberg just said don't expect daniels back anytime soon...i would think that a move will be made

Was anyone expecting Daniels back anytime soon?

No I think the prognosis was 1 or 2 months.

Shaq will be ready for the playoffs.

I'll stick with no moves unless a buyout comes along.

Shaq will play some games during the west coast road trip. Semih's injury has improved and he will play too.
