It sounds like it according to Gary Washburn's latest tweet :

"For those of you doubting the severity of Shaquille O'Neal's injury. He just entered the Celtics locker room with a walking boot on his right foot. Not a good sign"

http://www.tweetdeck.com/twitter/gwashburn14/~sZlfG

Hope it's just precautionary and he can get back in time.

I thought the injury was somewhere near the groin or thigh, it's his foot?  :-\
"7ft PG. Rondo leaves and GUESS WHAT? We got a BIGGER point guard!"-Tommy on Olynyk

Jeez. I thought they were just resting him for a day "because he's old" - I believe those were Doc's exact words.

More "truth" from the Celtics about player injuries. I honestly get so tired of the lieing from this team. Really frustrating.

So do the Sheed haters still think he would be bad for this team?

Find me another big man that will be available to sign that would be a better option. There is none . Sheed already knows the defensive system,  he can space the floor ( even if he only shoots 33% 3-9 from 3, that is like 50% 4-8 from 2). Because he plays center he brings the opposing big men away from the basket opening lanes for other PP ,Rondo, Nate, West . He is still a very good low post defender , a good low post offensive player and passer.

I know that he hasn't played all year, but that might be a good thing to give his body some rest and rejuvenate it a little. If he comes back by march 1st( which is the deadline to sign players so they are available for the playoffs) that would give him about a month and a half to get back into basketball shape.

We can't count on Shaq's health or JO. Semih has injury concerns too and is a rookie . If Shaq goes down in the playoffs the C's would be screwed at the center position ( Perk can only play 30 mins at the most)

I have no problem bring 'Sheed back.  But, it's still an issue with roster spots.

If JO is done - if he's not realistic to be able to contribute at all in this years playoffs, why not buy him out?  He can get paid, not play and sit on the bench in a suit, or get paid, not play, and sit on his couch in his sweatpants.  I really hope he CAN contribute this year, but if not cut your losses.

Same with Shaq, although I'll trust that he's more likely still going to be able to compete.

If Quis is done because of his head injuries - same deal, buy him out or trade him with some cash for someone like Josh Howard.

If Delonte comes back and plays as well as we know he can...   well, even with some decent play as of late Wafer will have to be feeling a little pressure.  Two guys for one spot, with Delonte having the benefit of being able to cover the backup PG spot.  Gotta wait a few games to see Delonte back on the court, though.  Cutting Von is still the cheapest option for the C's to get another roster spot.

He was an out-of-shape, lazy and unmotivated player last year - while he was playing. I can only imagine how bad he'd be after not picking up a basketball since last June. And I might add - that he only shot 28% from 3 last year. I think the chances of him shooting 33% are slim at best.

I think Danny may try to do a 2 for 1 deal.

Maybe something like Gody or Semih and Nate or avery bradley for a backup SF

That would open up a roster spot for Sheed

The C's need to do everything they can to bring home banner # 18. No use in keeping Harongody if he can't even get playing time when the C's are desperate for big men and forced to play BBD as a backup Center

You've got to wonder if Daniels should *ever* come back.

You wonder, too, if the C's (or any other team) were to let him play and he were to end up permanently paralyzed, they could have some serious legal liability.  They're going to be REAL careful letting him play again.

C's have to make a move for a SF, it's just a matter of how.  p---er how few decent trade pieces we have to work with.

I know he struggled in the regular season, but he shot 34% from 3 in the playoffs.

So you are going to feel secure about the C's big men going into the playoffs? I love what shaq gives this team, but he is 38 and takes a lot of contact. There is a pretty good chance he gets hurt in the playoffs. You can't count on JO and Semih is a rookie.

And if not , who would you want to bring in for big men? because I don't see any other big men who have the skill and experience sheed does in big games.

I may be missing someone, but it seems like most of the guys being talked about as buyout candidates this year are wings, not that many bigs.  'Sheed's a real emotional cat, you can tell last season left a real bad taste in his mouth; I think you'd see him motivated if they brought him back aboard.
