Ainge makes a 2 for 1 or 3 for 2 trade...either...
Nate and JO for RIP -or- Nate,JO and Quis for Hinrich and Howard

Then he decides to bring in an Ex Celtic(or 2 if Wafer/Gody get released)

Do you sign Antoine Walker - putting up 15 and 6 in the DL playing 33 mpg

Or sign Sheed - putting up 15 pounds and 6 techs sitting on his couch in retirement?

To me, both players could help this injury plagued team, and the trade with Washington instantly puts us in a good place come playoff time.

Rondo,West,Bradley           Rondo,West,Bradley
Ray,Wafer                    Ray,Hinrich
Pierce,RIP,Gody              Pierce,Howard,Gody
KG,BBD,Walker                KG,BBD,Walker
Perk,Shaq,Sheed,Erden        Perk,Shaq,Sheed,Erden
Can't stop, Rondo!

I dunno about how feasible either trade is, but its Sheed either way.

Luke Harangody would put up 15 and 6 in the D-League in 33 mins..maybe even better.

With JO's injury, and the uncertainty of it...I'd rather Sheed. The guys still want him back, and I think he's got 10 mins a game left in him.

The interesting thing about the two is I bet 'Toine is in a lot better shape than Sheed.....

In his best days, I always looked at 'Toine as a Tweener - a PF with some SF skills. In his best days, he seemed to play everywhere.

2011? 'Toine would come to Boston this year as a PF....which we already have a reliable backup there (Glen).

Sheed? I love the guy, but I'm pretty sure we'll have Shaq, JO and Semih back by April 15.

The answer is obviously Toine.

Toine's passion for the game is like mini Garnett.

Sheed has no passion for the game and it negatively effected our team to 50 wins last year.

Toine will give way more effort than Sheed and Toine will have a much better locker room presence for the younger guys than Sheed will.

Both will be largely ineffective players, but one offers more positives than the other.

I'll always love Toine for his Celtic Pride and the intangibles he brought, but this isn't even close - I'd take Rasheed hands down. I realize Rasheed was horrible during the regular season last year. And I remember during Game 1 against Cleveland, I yelled a few four-letter words at the TV on his behalf.

But from Game 2 of that series and on, he really stepped up. He hit a huge dagger 3 late in Game 6 of the Cavs series, played solid defense on Howard against Orlando, and was pretty good in the Finals. You won't find a better 5th big man anywhere. Semih has been decent, but Rasheed (assuming he doesn't take more than two 3s per game) would be a huge upgrade assuming he's in shape (and Ainge wouldn't sign him again if he weren't).

I think during the regular season there is some truth to that...I don't think its rational to say it held us to 50 wins..Garnett's recovery and overly-relying on Sheed had way more to do with that than Sheed's perceived lockerroom influence.

But during the post-season, I don't think anyone can discount what Sheed actually brought to teh team, which was a defensive presence on the second unit that we sorely needed.

And 'toine is like a mini-garnett'? I have no idea how you got there. A 'mini-garnett' would never be out of shape, he'd play defense with an urgency that Toine never, ever, showed with anything approaching consistency, and..lots of other stuff. Antoine Walker is not a 'mini-garnett'. Not in any possible way, beyond being substantially shorter.

I agree with that, but I think its Sheed that offers the positives.

What?

This literally makes no sense. You think a guy who has been out of rotations, out of the league, and in the D league for like 6 years would be better for us than a former NBA champion, and one of the best one on one low post defenders to ever play the game? Wow, dude.

  • Another undersized Celtic...
Believe it or not I'd go with Toine. Mainly because he'll be in shape, something Sheed didn't think was important for us last year and that was another big factor in us losing game 7. Toine is a mental midget on the basketball court, but maybe we could get him to play smart in a limited role--he has a lot to work for!

Antoine and Sheed are two of my favorite players to watch ALL TIME. I'd take Sheed over 'Toine by a pretty wide margin, but Rasheed would basically be taking over for Semih.

Antoine is pretty much done. If he comes back it'll be on a team that doesn't value defense. Tiny Gallon was dropping buckets on him up in Portland.

Toine is the better low post player compared to Sheed.

All Sheed has on Toine is a turnaround fadeaway.

Toine has way many more moves in the post and a hook shot that blows Sheed's hook shot out of the water.

I never said Toine was a mini Garnett. I said Toine's passion for the game is pretty powerful and exuberant, but not on KG's level.

Okay, I misunderstood you then. You said 'toine's passion for the game is like a mini garnett', and I assume you meant he had a passion for the game that was in some way comparable to Garnett's.

I still disagree with that however, if you think Toine's passion that much more than Sheed's, I don't think either guy is a night in night out 100% guy anymore..they both are pretty well known for mailing in games.

Why would you take Sheed by a WIDE margin?

Toine is the better passer, better rebounder, better chemistry maker, better play maker, better "big shot" maker, better career, better Celtic.

I've never seen Toine, as a Celtic, mail in any games before.

Maybe as a Miami Heat, Toine didn't give as much as he should, but he was the only Heat to show up in their 0-4 sweep by the Bulls the year after the Heat won the chip.

I dunno, I think lazy shot selection, half hearted defense, and playing just overall lazy when the team was down is mailing in games..and its definitely things both Sheed and Toine are guilty of, as Celtics and otherwise.

Toine's often faced criticism of coming to camp out of shape, lazing around during games, playing soft, especially in his shot selection..and Sheed has faced the same stuff. That said too, they've both been integral parts of championship winning squads.
