I was wondering if somewhere on here could make a list of potential buyout players and players who will most likely get dealt by the deadline.

Good night to start this with how depleted we are.  I guess I'll start this myself.

Sheed, Rip,...

Sheed was already bought out.

I don't see how Rip leaves millions of dollars on the table.

If you want a list of buyout candidates, simply list every single player in the NBA who is currently playing on an expiring contract.

Potential players we can add I really mean.

Ok here's what I came up with for our options on getting players...

Wing

Grant Hill
Rip Hamilton
Shane Battier
Josh Howard
Ryan Gomes
Anthony Parker
Jamario Moon
Tayshawn Prince (Pipe Dream)
Leandro Barbosa

Big
Sheed
Tony Battie

Not many options for bigs at all honestly.

I think Anthony Parker and Josh Howard are the only players in that list that have a chance of being bought out. Also think that both are more likely to be kept then not.

The rest of the players, I don't think their teams have any interest in buying them out.

Agreed.  And even Parker is probably a longshot given the injury problems the Cavs have had.

I'm curious but how many years is G Hill signed for?  You'd think, with the current situation in phoenix that he would want to play somewhere else to get a chance at a ring.  But he spurned us once before so I guess the guy may be wired a bit differently than others.

Troy Murphy is a potential buyout candidate, I think.

Regarding Rip, the Pistons would have to agree to pay him *a lot* of money to buy out his additional year plus his option year.  I think they'd like to clear him from their roster, but they won't pay him close to full price.  In other words, it's unlikely to happen.

I should probably change the thread title to potential targets because that's what I meant by those players.  I know most of them aren't getting bought out.

Frankly, I am confused as to my so many around here are even interested in Rip.  He simply doesn't fill a need because he is a SG correct?  And a skinny one at that.

Now talk to me about Tayshaun Prince and I am listening.

I would like to get Troy Murphy.

I've heard his game has dropped off a decent amount though from last year...

Either that or he was overvalued last year.

Is that the case?

my first two choices of those listed above would be Murphy and Battier but I might have a bit of a soft spot for GOMES! ;-)

Is Grant Hill definitely a no? I know he picked them over the Celtics a couple years ago but the Suns were actually pretty good then. Is this the last year of his contract? Is the only thing holding him from coming here himself or would the Suns just not be interested in getting rid of him? I know he likes the PT and that area or whatever but seems pretty stupid to turn down the C's especially if Marquis couldn't come back because he could end up getting decent minutes and become a valuable player for us.

Also what about Jerry Stackhouse? Isn't he looking to get back in the league? I know he was released by the Heat earlier in the season but all there role players seem like a mess. Eddie House goes from DNP's to playing 30 minutes. Big Z starts but only plays 10 minutes a night. Juwan Howard is non-existent. Carlos Arroyo starts most of the season then is buried on the bench. They seem a little clueless.

But anyway Stackhouse was pretty valuable last year for the Bucks and their playoff race. He's still a decent defender IMO and could be a better option than most available

Good suggestion with Stackhouse didn't think of him.  Would really like for the C's to sign him.  I liked what I saw out of him a lot last year.
