Also what about Jerry Stackhouse? Isn't he looking to get back in the league? I know he was released by the Heat earlier in the season but all there role players seem like a mess.

But anyway Stackhouse was pretty valuable last year for the Bucks and their playoff race. He's still a decent defender IMO and could be a better option than most available

Good suggestion with Stackhouse didn't think of him.  Would really like for the C's to sign him.  I liked what I saw out of him a lot last year.

I also like the "chippiness" he plays with on defense. I know some people have apparently been turned off by this lately (KG) but it would definitely mesh well with our team. He gets under guys skin like last year when Pierce kinda flipped out at him during a Bucks game. Always nice to throw a guy like that on Kobe, Lebron, Wade

I agree.  I'd be very happy with getting Stackhouse.

I will go out on a limb and say that I think Von Wafer can hold down the fort as a back-up 3.  If we can make a good deal or get someone for next to nothing, then great but I don't see the need to trade say Nate or Davis for what they would likely bring back.  The problem last night was not that we didn't have Daniels, it was that we didn't have Shaq, Jerm, West, Erden, and Nate.  Plus Pierce had the flu and Ray didn't refocus after getting the record (fouls).

Wafer is kind of like a rookie out there.  He is still getting used to the intensity of how this team plays.  It has been taking a while but he is coming around.  He is still playing a little over-amped I think, especially last night as it was a really big game.

If we're talking a month and a half, and then Daniels comes back before the playoffs, I agree.  However, my concern is if Daniels is not coming back, I do not think you can go to the playoffs without a better defender off the bench.  In a 7 game series against an elite team, Wafer would be exploited...but in the regular season, we could certainly get by with it once West comes back.

Our starting 5 is flawless, IMO.
It's the bench that bothers me, and I know we have VERY few pieces that are expendable to net us some help

This roster is over staffed with injury plagued big men, and our bench guards are all guards. We have no forwards, b/c Luke can't guard a 3 legged chair, and his shot looks like Barkley's gold stroke

I really think Ainge's best best, and most probable move, is gutting the bench besides Shaq,Erdin,Davis and maybe JO

So take Nate,Bradley,Wafer,Quis and Gody and you have 10 mil in salary to play with. Most likely case scenario is we end up making a 2 for 1 or 3 for 2 trade for a PG and bigman(ex.Udrih and Thompson for Quis,Nate, and Wafer/Luke)
Then we can sign a free agent after the deadline. If no big names are available like Battier/Hamilton/etc, then we can hit a free agent like Jarvis Hayes/Bobby Simmons/etc
Can't stop, Rondo!

I haven't seen much of Stack over the past 2-3 years but he could not even stay on the MIA roster.  I'm guessing the old tires can't keep up anymore, a-la Michael Finley from last year.

I think that Hawkeye and BJ might be better suited to the current needs?   :(

Stay classy, San Diego. Hello, Baxter? Baxter, is that you? Bark twice if you're in Milwaukee. Is this Wilt Chamberlain? Have the decency to say something.

Various players could become available as the deadline approaches: Sacramento’s Carl Landry, Washington’s Josh Howard (a player the Celtics have coveted), Cleveland’s Jamario Moon and Anthony Parker, Denver’s Arron Afflalo, Detroit’s Tracy McGrady and Chris Wilcox, the Clippers’ Rasual Butler and Craig Smith, former Milwaukee All-Star Michael Redd, and New York swingman Roger Mason.

Nice link by Jeff on the front page.

I would be fine with just about any of those players.

yeah .. all of those wings would be fine .. I think we need offense and someone with something between the ears at this stage ..

There's a danger here if Danny sits on his hands that legs get tired and too fatigued for when it really matters ..

Wow! If Shane Battier is available, that would be huge. Nice touch from medium to long range and a good defensive player.

I wonder how easy TMac would be to get from the Pistons? He is on a really cheap contract. He would fit in as a wing off the bench and be ok offensively next to Delonte. I dont know if he could give us much defensively, but if we kept him against second unit players it might work well.

The big question is, who to cut loose to add him? The one to cut might not be the one wanted in a trade. We might be able to get him for cash though...

ugh stop with the seed talk is pretty overrated plus with the new technical rules  he wouldn't last 5 minutes!

What other big men options are out there? Not many.

C/PF isn't really a position of need (IMO).  Perk appears to be playing decently, and should get better as his conditioning improves.  Shaq will be fine.  Sure, right now it may be a bit tough without him, but, he'll be ready for the playoffs.  He's 38 and only has so many minutes in him at this point.  The C's are being wise by not using up all of those minutes in the regular season.

SF, on the other hand, is a position of need.  As unfortunate as it is, Quisy is probably not going to be able to be counted on much going forward.

Battier would be my favorite option, but an unrealalistic one.  He makes too much money (for what we have to trade), and his reputation will probably net Houston more than we can offer.

Anthony Parker is a decent option, and my bet for who the C's target.  A trade of Daniels (with cash and maybe a pick) for Parker probably would get it done.  Cleveland can't expect to get much for him, and Dan Gilbert probably wouldn't be opposed to helping out one of LeBron's competitors.

If Daniels is traded, I hope he's bought out though.  Even if we don't re-sign him, we'd have to clear a roster space, the C's should at least let him come back and (hang-out?) with the team in an unofficial towel waver role.
