Before all the Tony Allen fanatics start coming out of the closet and professing what a mistake it was to lose Tony and how great Tony can be when given minutes lets remember a few points:1. The last time Tony Allen scored over 20 points in a game was on 11/9/2008 against a Detroit team that had just traded away Chauncey Billups and added Allen Iverson and was in complete disarray. 2. Scoring is not Tony Allen's game.3. In this GREAT defensive game he had last night he held Kevin Durant to 2 point OVER his scoring average of 29 PPG and 1 percent point OVER his average FG%.4. The ONLY reason he is on the court starting is because Rudy Gay and OJ Mayo aren't playing at the moment.
If we hadn't been bitten seriously by the injury bug, we wouldn't be talking about Tony Allen. I wish him luck but we don't need him.
So, a good game does not a great career make. There is a reason Paul, Ray, KG, Kobe, etc. are stars & Tony isn't. They do it consistently. Tony can't consistently put together the kind of game to be the 6th man.

And soon to be 4-0 after we beat LA tomorrow night?Without TA?I miss TA as well, but he left on his own terms, whatever they were. After all, Marquis was playing so well this season that we had all forgotten about TA.Until Marquis went down.I believe that Delonte will help us at the 3 in some cases. We'll be ok. And Marquis will be back by March - just in time for our playoff run to June.

imagine if tony never got injured in the 06-07 season. i'd say games like this wouldn't be as surprising...

Most players best years are when they are in their prime and that's where Tony is now. And we don't need him to score a bunch, but he can score. We needed him for his defense. I remember him replacing OJ Mayo when OJ was playing terrible for a stretch. Tony is with a new team and it's reasonable to think that it would take him some time to learn the new system. He's learning it and is balling right now.
