I posted this in the "Ideas for backup SF" thread , but thought I might get a quicker answer here . Does anyone know when Lasme is supposed to return from a fracture in his left foot ? It happened in November .

I love the kids Defense and hustle . He is not much of an outside shooter, but he proved he could play great defense in the preseason at the SF and PF positions. He already knows the C's defensive system and he would be great on the fast break with Rondo ( when he plays with the 2nd unit). You could have a rotation of Lasme, Luke and Von at the SF spot depending on the matchups.

He would also be a decent backup for KG and insurance for BBD( BBD may have to play some mins at C)

I would sign him to a 10 day contract immediately and the explore options for a playoff rotation caliber SF through trades or buyouts .

If I remember correctly, he is out for this season...not sure though.

EDIT:

Former UMass standout Stephane Lasme came within an eyelash of earning a spot on the Celtics regular season roster, and tonight finds himself out indefinitely after fracturing his foot Tuesday night against the Springfield Armor.

He played the 4 with us, not the 2/3.

He's not healthy yet, but even if he was, who do we cut?

If someone has to go, I'd imagine it'd be Gody at this point.

there were a few games where he was playing the SF for about 5-10 mins in the preseason. He was playing mostly PF ,but always stayed in front of his man on D when playing SF. Granted it was limited mins, but the kid is super athletic , quick and long( when healthy). He has a similar body type to Daniels, just a little taller.

I wouldn't mind seeing a guy like Ime Udoka get a look.  I know he was with the Spurs earlier this season but i think he's been a free agent since January.  Jawad Williams could be worth a look as well - i guess since he couldn't cut it on the Cavs then he might not have much to offer but a 10-day contract isn't too risky...he average 15minutes per game this season before being let go, so at least you know you're getting someone in game shape if the C's elect to go the free-agency route.

Well with Delonte coming back right after the all-star break Von Wafer is going to see very little playing time at the backup SG. He is to small to cover most SF's in the league and Harongody is too slow.

Pick either one of those 2 . I would rather keep Von Wafer just because he is much more skilled and athletic so he is able to play good D against SG's. , but Gody has a year extra on his contract so not sure if Danny would release him ?

but if Lasme is not healthy its a moot point

I doubt anyone gets cut unless it's for a proven player.  They're not going to release a guy to give Lasme a 10 day audition.

Right now the most expendable player is Luke.  Once West get back it, then Wafer would be next on the list.  I'd actually say Nate is next but with his contract you can't trade or release him.

He played primarily at the 4 however, just as he almost certainly has most of his basketball career.

The problem isn't whether or not he's athletic enough, its his offense and comfort defending the perimeter.

It'd be hard to trade Luke by himself and try to get a proven guy in return. Any move will be tough because it will hurt the chemistry on this team. If anyone were to get cut it'd be Wafer cause of his contract. Wafer's contract is just one year. If you're going to trade you'd have to include a few players... like Wafer and Luke and someone else and even then I'm not sure what you'd be getting in return is someone who can work with these guys.

Any attempt to bring in another SF will be for a veteran especially since they want someone who is playoff ready.

I think Deshawn Sims would be more likely. He was in Celtics training camp, can shoot, is 6'8, was a D-League All-Star... him and Avery Bradley have some chemistry as well. The kid is pretty decent.
