Well, I think this makes Marquis an expiring contract for a trade with one of our draft picks tacked on. I don't think you want to go into the playoffs with your main back-up wing coming off a spinal injury.

Jamario Moon, Tony Allen, Anthony Parker: those would be my targets.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

Jamario Moon, any possibility whatsoever?
They don't seem to value him over there in Cleveland.

I think they'd give him up for a second rounder and some cash.

I've also noticed his being stuck on the Cavs bench. If we really could get him for anywhere near that cheap (and Marquis is out 2 months or more) surely it's a no-brainer?

I thought we were trying to get Rip.

Yeah, it's only a matter of time before Rip and the Pistons settle on a buyout...no point in him rotting on their bench when he's completely healthy and in good shape. He'd be a good option off of our bench, and he'd really benefit from curling around the picks that our team sets.

Also, how about Jermaine, Avery Bradley, and a second rounder for Shane Battier? I think Houston owes it to Shane to trade him to a team where he actually has a shot at a title.

Nobody has mentioned Tayshawn Prince. He is the guy we really need, Rip Hamilton is too skinny/small to guard a SF and can barely stay with Ray now. Nate, JO and cash should get Prince with maybe a draft pick thrown in. We then have to resign Prince for next season and decide who we let go.......

Hamilton is pretty likely to be bought out though, so he is the easier target. Maybe we send 3 million in cash for the Prince trade and they apply it to Hamiltons buy out?

getting a Piston wing would be great, whether Prince or Rip, but i fail to see how it could work money-wise. Getting Pietrus would be terrific. and also Posey. Getting Posey would be awesome actually.

that said, i dont know if we'll be able to get any of these guys. we might end up having to trot Luke out there on some nights and just hope he can hold his own at the 3 like Scalabrine.

Posey is old and slow now. Pietrus on the other hand still has it.

Rip is not going be bought out till the Pistons sale goes through, current ownership isn't going to pay money for him to go away.

We're fine. Daniels is not a difference maker.

You'll change your opinion after you watch Wafer backing up the Captain for two straight months.

Can you imagine Wafer trying to guard LeBron, Deng etc.? I see PP playing a lot of minutes because of this injury.

Yep.

Remember the role Tony Allen played last year in the playoffs? Remember how much Pierce's offensive game suffered against Lebron even with Allen on the team? Remember the job TA did on Wade? Remember who the Lakers SG is?

This is subtle but major weakness of this team come playoff time. The lack of a backup defensive wing stopper.

I keep reading lots of trade ideas involving JO, and for the life of me cannot understand why anyone would want JO. Trading Nate makes sense and if you could get something for Nate, Gody and a draft pick, that would make sense to me.

Generally speaking, I agree.  The only way I see JO going is if a) we take back an even worse contract (think 3+ years at JO money) or b) we use him as part of a contract filler.

But generally, you're right.  No one is jumping at the opportunity of picking him up now.

If there was any way on earth of convincing Grant Hill that 20 minutes a night on a contender is better than 30 minutes a night on a mediocre Suns team headed for the lottery, I'd throw whatever meager trade assets we have at the Suns to get him.

lets stop with the guessing
Daniels could be back in 6 weeks
meanwhile Luke and Wafer get more time

Nah. You can't count on Quis anymore. You never could, really.

Ainge needs to make a move before the deadline (or have a post-deadline pickup in mind).

who was the SF we had during training camp? our last cut, and is he with anyone?

You're talking about either Stephane Lasme or Tony Gaffney, two guys I was hoping we would keep before they were cut for exactly this reason.

Lasme is injured.
