Adjusted lineup:

C: Carmelo Anthony
PF: Carmelo Anthony
SF: Carmelo Anthony
SG: Carmelo Anthony
PG: Carmelo Anthony

If I've got Melo playing all five positions, let's be honest, we're going to score points: 166.6* to be exact. That'd be number 1 in the real NBA, guys.

*Yes, I really did the math

A spreadsheet would really bolster your argument.

I don't think Lowry, ibaka and Fields will be as productive without a plethora of better scorers around them. You have 3 4th options in your staring 5. That's my big objection.

So you're saying they'd be less effective if they take more shots?

You might be right...its pretty difficult to say. They're all young though, and considering Fields' consistency, Ibaka's incredible improvement in only 1 year, and Lowry's improvement from last year to this year, especially in scoring..I think it is just as feasible that they'd be able to maintain their current efficacy, and possibly (I'd say most likely in the case of Ibaka) improve on their impact further.

The biggest concern I think is actually Paul Pierce. Although all 5 starters project to be 10 ppg scorers, Paul Pierce is a significantly worse player when he tries to be a hero for a whole game. If his FGA's go up significantly, I think his FG% drops just as significantly...so it will be important that some of these guys come through.

I'm saying they won't receive as quality looks as they do know and be forced to play against the more stringent aspects of a defense.

I don't see it that way, but I guess that could be explained away because everyone loves their own team.

I am confident that Pierce and Bogut will give other teams a fair amount of trouble, and I don't think the quality of open looks will decrease all that significantly for the trio of Fields/Lowry/Ibaka. On top of that I'm confident that Lowry, Fields, and Ibaka have all not only proved they're able rotation players for good teams, they've also got room to grow.

I don't think that scoring will be as big a problem, partially because I think you're underestimating how good my supporting cast can be, but also because I think the defense will make scoring less of do or die factor in the outcome of games.

C: Tyson Chandler/Chris Andersen
PF: Dirk Nowitski/Tiago Splitter
SF: Richard Jefferson/Wes Johnson
SG: Brandon Roy/Josh Childress
PG: Jarrett Jack

I still need a backup PG (although I will likely play Roy a bit at the point), but other than that, I am very happy with my roster.

With a healthy brandon roy this is the best team in the draft. Without a healthy brandon Roy they're a 5th seed or so.

I don't think we'll ever see 100% Brandon Roy again.  With bone-on-bone, I think we're going to be looking at 70% - 80% of the player he was, max.  That being the case, even if 75% Brandon Roy played 82 games, I'd still put LA and Miami ahead of Dallas.
RealGM has a news report up that says Brandon Roy will be returning to game action this week.

That should give us some more insight on the matter ... to see whether or not Roy is able to improve on his early season form.

I'd put San Antonio right up there w/ the elite teams

I think they're a half-step back, largely due to a lack of a defensive identity.  Also, Kaman has only played 10 games this year, so it's not like we should treat him like a healthy player.  I think the Spurs were one of the teams hurt the most by only having two keepers.

It sounds like Chris Kaman will be coming back soon.

A report from the LA Times - rest of article about E.Gordon

Quote
There was a hint, finally, that center Chris Kaman was inching along and making progress.

"He's healing. He's feeling better," Del Negro said. "Then it's just the tolerance of pain and when he can get out there. We've got some good reports back from the doctor and now it's just day to day as we move forward. It's really up to him in terms of how he feels out there."

Sounds like he'll be sometime during or after their current road trip (11 straight road games, ouch!).

The last sentence there is really stupid if you look at it on its own merits. I apologize for making your hands hit your foreheads so hard.

Your continued belief in Greg Oden baffles me.

7th guy picked belief is a lot different then 1st round pick.

This is a roll of the dice to see if I can add a third star this late in the process.

James Harden, Evan Turner, and Serge Ibaka are the top 3 guys i wish I could just fast forward their careers 4 years or so to see if they turn into stars or even 2nd or 1st offensive options. I really do wonder..where is Harden's ceiling? Is he ever going to be a 18ppg scorer? Well he ever turn the talent into more efficient buckets?
