It has nothing to do with danger, its all about money.  Frankly I am surprised this took so long, because it really is the equivalent to stealing in the same way pirated music is. 

As for why the DHS did it, I am sure it is all a jurisdiction thing.  All of those government agencies handle a lot of things other than what they are best known for.

Maybe if the leagues improved upon their online subscription streaming more people wouldn't be using free streams and would be buying the subsciption?

Ik... Ik that's not the case, but the leagues really do need to improve upon them.

I'm not sure how either is dangerous.

One is violating copyrights, the other isn't.

Though I love the illegal sports streaming sites, I can't complain about blocking illegal streams. Still, I look forward to people finding ways around restrictions to force sports league to have better pay online options. I would gladly pay for an option to see all 82 Celtics games and then all playoff games online since I will soon dump my cable.

I'm not sure how either is dangerous.

I didn't read anything on it...just assumed it had something to do with cyber security.

If they are going to crack down on these sites because of copyright violations..then maybe they should looks at all those torrent sites too.

In case someone was a fan of atd** (figure out the rest), try replacing .net with .me, and it still works (as stated in the above article). I think most of these sites will end up moving their hosting overseas, where it is pretty much untouchable. Besides, the advertising that these sites that stream content is so lucrative that they will find a way to stay open.

I'm sure Homeland Security got a lot of people's attention today, though.
