With the 9th pick of the 2nd round, the BOBCATZ select

TROY MURPHY

to complete a frontline trio (Wallace-Murphy-Jefferson) who each avg. 10 reb/gm!

we thinkz Murphy is a great outside compliment to Big Al on the block & the slashing Wallace.

In related newz, the BOBCATZ have agreed to NEVER EVER hire Avery Johnson.

Breaking: Troy Murphy has just announced that he is unhappy with his playing time in the 10 minutes since he was drafted.  Until a trade can be made he will be locked in his room listening to Linkin Park with the lights off.

I don't get it... I'm glad to poke fun at myself, as most will attest, so i'm not bein' defensive... am i missing a reference?

(in case this is an actual critique of the pick: Murph avg. 14/10/2 + 2 threes and a steal last year and is by everyone's admission fully healthy... Avery just refuses to play him... As his mentor Don Nelson did to a lesser degree in his last season in GS)

Just making fun of the whole debacle in NJ where Murphy has been unhappy all year and now staying home til he's traded.  No knock on the actual pick although this has been a total lost season for Troy.

With the sixth pick, the Indiana Pacers select Marcus Camby

Very nice pick.

My pick is gonna take a while.

Yep. He was the one I was thinking of over Gortat, in terms of defensive impact.

Camby-Bynum is an impressive frontcourt.

Yeah, the problems with Camby are that he's old and he's hurt.  I'd put higher value on Gortat right now, and certainly into the future.

Bynum Camby could be very impressive if healthy, but I think you have to assume one will be hurt at most times, kinda of like Shaq and JO

Passing the torch: One of these days, Boston's Ray Allen is going to break Reggie Miller's career record for 3-pointers. Heading into today, Allen was 12 shy of Miller's 2,560.

Miller doesn't mind, figuring Allen's final mark will never be broken.

"We're in the flash of the ESPN Top 10 highlights of everyone wanting to dunk and cross-over and be spectacular," Miller said during a recent TNT broadcast. "Shooting is boring, it takes time and you have to spend hours working on your craft. Players don't want to put up the sacrifice to do it.

"That's why I applaud Ray Allen, at 35 years old, getting ready to break my record in the next month and a half. He is the best shooter in this league and that's sad because there should be some young gun-slinger coming up saying, "I'm going to shatter Ray Allen's record." There's no one alive that's going to break his record."

haha, ok... i thought maybe there was more too it. here's a TP!

Yeah it makes no sense...

But do we really know if Avery is a good coach?

I mean the NJN seem to still be mired despite having some talent. He was the coach of the DAL that choked vs GSW and in the Finals to MIA, IIRC.

And a 15-35 team sitting a 14/10 guy when their starting center can barely outrebound Rajon Rondo makes no sense.

He hasn't earned much benefit of the doubt in my book past his play as PG during the Spurs' runs in the 90s.

I always figure with situations as weird as that one that there's a lot going on that we aren't aware of.  Johnson as a coach is probably a big adjustment after how laid-back Jim O'Brien is.  And Murphy is probably pretty hard-headed himself.  It's tough to get an NBA team to pay you $12 million to stay away from them.

EDIT:  And no I don't think Avery is much of a coach.  He's like a poor man's Scott Skiles in my eyes.

That pick just about killed me. He's not worth Brandon Jennings and might have still been there at 3(7), but I know that at least one of the other guys I was targeting will be there at 3(7)..so there you go.

Interesting, he was one of my sleepers.  I wish we could see how he'd perform outside of the D'Antoni system, but he seems like a very good glue guy so far.

Well since you're beating yourself up over the trade, no need for me to do so.....*whistles*....

You better get some shooters/scorers/creators asap.

He won't get the insane rebounds he currently does on a team with Ibaka/Smith/Bogut.
