With the 9th pick of the 2nd round, the BOBCATZ select

TROY MURPHY

to complete a frontline trio (Wallace-Murphy-Jefferson) who each avg. 10 reb/gm!

we thinkz Murphy is a great outside compliment to Big Al on the block & the slashing Wallace.

In related newz, the BOBCATZ have agreed to NEVER EVER hire Avery Johnson.

Breaking: Troy Murphy has just announced that he is unhappy with his playing time in the 10 minutes since he was drafted.  Until a trade can be made he will be locked in his room listening to Linkin Park with the lights off.

That's hilarious.

Not a lot of quality bigs left, so the Sixers select Anderson Varejao and what I'm sure is a nice collection of springtime suits.

There has been a trade:

Milwaukee Trades: Brandon Jennings
Houston Trades: 2(12)

I disagree, there's two young PG's out there that I like more than Jennings, a bunch of servicable starting PG's, and a lot of players who I think are an upgrade over Jennings. I think this is a good deal for Milwalkay

There's definitely a bit of depth left at PG, but I'm not willing to call it a good deal until I see who the Bucks take.  I think Houston got excellent value for 2.12.

I agree. I think Jennings is better than anyone left at 2(12), but I didn't like him on my team, so I traded away a little value to get the guy I wanted along with a painless easy trade.

Interesting - have to see who the Bucks get at the 12 spot to evaluate this, but I don't see many guys who could make up for the loss of a prospect like Jennings.

2 reasons:

1) I am sick and tired of trying to defend Jennings. He's a high powered scorer who is absolutely a fantastic prospect, but he's also incredibly flawed, and after the draft last summer, I've soured on his 38% shooting from the field, stupid hair style wearing, way too skinny to be serious ways.

2) I haven't made a trade yet and I got bored.

My co-GM had some of the same gripes about Jennings and didn't want to us to trade for him for similar reasons.  Although I'm not really sure what good young PGs left are better than him.  Maybe roughly equal, but I hope you're targetting another player with 2.12 then taking a later PG who will still be servicable.  We'll see!!

Are we doing this for the remainder of the season? Isn't he out for the year?

Great player to get at this stage in the draft.

Varejao would have been my first choice pick instead of Camby if not for his season ending injury.

He'll play very well with Lamar Odom and Tyreke Evans.

It's kind of open what the "timeframe" is.  I don't see any way to make the Sixers good this year so I'm building for the future.

I don't get it... I'm glad to poke fun at myself, as most will attest, so i'm not bein' defensive... am i missing a reference?

(in case this is an actual critique of the pick: Murph avg. 14/10/2 + 2 threes and a steal last year and is by everyone's admission fully healthy... Avery just refuses to play him... As his mentor Don Nelson did to a lesser degree in his last season in GS)

was choosing between Murphy & Varejao and it came down to feeling Murphy opened the paint up for Jefferson a little better than Varejao.

Varejao is a better defender and has a better motor, but Murphy is more skilled as a rebounder and shooter.

He is involved in some negotiations but we're happy to keep him as well as we want some degree of veteran presence and he's still got a few good years left in him.

The joke is that Murphy came to NJ and hasn't played much, and since Avery Johnson won't insert him into the rotation more regularly, he's pretty much said he's taking his ball and going him.
