As I recall, the sideline reporter on the ESPN broadcast said that the ref told her that the first technical was for excessive complaining and the second technical was for not stopping with the complaining, so not actually for any physical contact such as possible hand-genital interaction.

So, the story is what amounts to a double technical, I suppose, on KG and Frye plus another technical on KG for keeping on with his mouth.  Plus technicals on various Celtics players for getting involved.

If that's the refs' explanation, that's really not something you can prove or disprove by re-watching footage, but you shouldn't really give a technical for more complaining before signaling the first technical for complaining.  And technicals for complaining should be preceded by a verbal warning unless you do something like direct profanity at a referee.

The refs can pull whatever kind of bull they want and get away with it. Sucks but that's the way it is under Hiel Stern

I can't remember a game that was played as incredibly horrible by the Celtics as tonight's, and officiated just as badly! We got the double-whammy tonight, and the only positive I can take away from it is that there were no major injuries.

I need to completely forget this one and move on to the Laker mind-set. Steve Javie had it out for us in this one, completely ignored some blatant charges in the first quarter, and gave us a very quick six fouls in the first.

To those who believe that officials never affect games in a negative or biased fashion ... time to join the real world. ;)

I watched the first half of the game last night and what I saw was a celtics team who played their worst game of the season combined with a Phoenix team who played their best first qurarter of the year.

Bad combo and refs did not make the difference.

Celtics missed at least 5 to 6 shote that are normally automatics. On the other side, Gortat averages something like 7 points a game and he had how many points in the first quested.

Just a perfect evil storm last night.

Plus, the celtics could not figure pu how to stop Nash and the pick and roll he played with the center early on.

Refs were bad, they did not win the game for Phoenix. The Suns won the game.

KG's school yard antics made an embarrassing night even more so. I hope he apologizes. Really not worthy of someone of his stature in the league to be taking cheap shots at defenseless players. Be a man and apologize. Otherwise you just have o hang your head at this one.

It's hard to believe KG might have deliberately hit the guy there but it does look like it in that replay. And why would he bend over in pain if it wasn't a real hit.

I just want to know what the heck happened last night. The night just went from bad to worse and spiralled out of control. The Celtics were not playing last night at all. They were utterly and completely cold. I think they were very tired from jet lag, back to back games that were at 10:30pm on their time clocks. It is ridiculous how they're forced to play in these types of schedules.

KG and Doc both acted like idiots and unprofessional. So what was really going on? Were they just dog tired or did something happen to cause the team to go psycho?

Doc continuing to clap when the ref was t'ing him was just immature and he should control his emotions or he makes himself look bad.

The refs had NOTHING to do with the outcome of this game. In the same way they had NOTHING to do with the outcome of the Portland game, even though the Celtics had taken 14 free throws before the Blazers shot their first.

The refs are usually bad, usually inconsistent, usually seem biased for one side.
If KG and Doc haven't realized this by now, they should, and control themselves. I was not proud of them last night.

Javie was on a bit of a powertrip last night but the refs weren't the reason we lost.  We played like crap.

Back end of a back to back on the road with the Lakers game looming on Sunday?

I wouldn't take too much out of last night.

Pietrus with the 1st cheapshot, typical "double technical" from lazy refs.

But the cheapshot from garnett was despicable.

Pietrus should have gotten tossed for that intentional elbow to the neck/throat of Garnett. Maybe if that had happened, the rest of the crap would not have. This is what the refs need to be faulted for last night -- letting things get out of hand.

The refs had nothing to do with the C's sucking and consequently losing.

However, Steve Javie still should be disciplined for his horrible officiating.  There's no way Doc or KG should've been tossed.

If their tossings were justified, then every game should be seeing 6-7 ejections.

As one of the announcers said last night, he thinks he's bigger than the game.

The announcer, I think, was trying to quote Doc, saying 'it's not about you, it's about the game'. Something like that.

Gotta agree here.  The refs explanation was sketchy at best.  How do they give KG a 2nd tech.  If the ref felt the gravity of the situation merited KG's ejection, a flagrant 2 call would have been more appropriate.  Automatic ejection on flagrant 2 call (upon review, which was done).
