Blake Griffin, Monta Ellis, LaMarcus Aldrige, Russel Westbrook.

I totally agree!!!! Now let's figure out how to get them on the East team, then we're all set!

Now affla and Celtics and all how many of them do you think they will actually be there?

Boozer, Noah, Bogut, Bosh, Horford are all deserving F/Cs. Guards I don't think Felton deserves to be an all-star, probably just Joe Johnson.

I don't think Josh Smith or Danny Granger are deserving this year.

I'm not sure about Noah or Boozer, just due to the number of games missed.  I don't like Johnson, either; he has been too inefficient this year.

I do think Horford and Bosh should make the team.

If they're not coming to the Celts they can stay out West, thank you very much.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Kevin Love.  He's going to be the first player in history to average at least 20 points, 15 rebounds, and 40% three point field goal in a season.

He hasn't been mentioned because most folks are talking about the Eastern Conference.

That said, I am trying to think of four other players in the East who deserve a spot over our guys.

At a glance, here are some of the players who have a case to at least be in the conversation.

The East starters happen to be the five players in the conference with the highest PPG.  The other players with a PPG over 20 are Bargnani and Granger.  After that, the other players with a PPG over 18 are Carlos Boozer, Joe Johnson, Brook Lopez, Paul Pierce, Chris Bosh, and Stephen Jackson.  Boozer has played 27 games, so let's limit this to players with at least 25 games for the rest of what I say.

Dwight Howard is the leading rebounder.  Add in everyone with at least 8 RPG and 10 PPG.  You then include Andrew Bogut, Al Horford, Josh Smith, Kevin Garnett, Elton Brand, and Andray Blatche.

Rajon Rondo is the assist leader, so add him to the pool.  Players not yet listed with 8+ assists and 15+ points per game.  John Wall and Raymond Felton.

That's the shortlist I would use to pick the reserves.

I don't think Yao Ming deserves a slot this year.  He has been injured all year.

This thing isn't about the best players its a popularity contest.

Not sure if they deserve to be named over the Celtics candidates but deserving players in the East are:

Andrew Bogut - I think he's a lock
Raymond Felton - having an amazing year and showing some leadership along with Amare in NY
Al Horford - can really play either front court position and is having an almost double double type year
Chris Bosh - still putting up great numbers playing third banana but could possibly be overlooked
Jason Richardson - shooting the rock great and seemingly fitting in perfect in Orlando

Part of me thinks it's idiotic that you have to select a back up center or for that matter 3 guards and 3 forwards for the reserves.   Just pick the best players as reserves period and it could make for some interesting and fun matchups for the game.  It would also mean less players getting snubbed.

I think you should require a back-up center, two guards, and two forwards and give some leeway on the other two roster spots, but that's what any coach would do.

Although, it could be fun if your plan leads to four centers and three point guards on the bench.

Richardson is not playing to an all-star level, the only area he's above average in is scoring efficiency and he's only getting 14 PPG. He's fourth banana at best on the Magic so I can't put him anywhere near the team.
