Nate + JO for Rip

It's financially feasible and we can make use of the extra roster spot to sign Sheed. It just sounds perfect to me.

What's your thought?  :P

Rip has three years left on his deal which doesn't match with Ainge's plan so it wouldn't work.

I think RIP has seen his better days, and as it stands he's been DNP the past couple of games for complaining about playing time. I think getting him would hurt the team chemistry and he's just not effective. Nate has been great off the bench for us and J.O. has been ok, but at least he clogs up the middle. We need all the bigs we can get, as that was the reason we lost game 7 last year.

My thought is, once you said "Sheed" I died on the inside, and can't function well enough since my soul has been ripped out. So I have no thought.

PS. Sheed sucks.

There's absolutely 0 substantiation to that rumor. Noone really knows why he's been DNP-CDed, other than the Coach saying the team is "going in another direction" but Tayshaun, Gordon, and other Piston players have come out in support of him and said they want him on the floor.

There is something weird going on in Detroit, no doubt. But there's been no substantial reports of Rip causing any problems prior to his benching, most of those rumors have started after his benching, as a way to give a possible reason.

He's still been a pretty productive player. Now obviously I'd want no part of his contract, which will pay him 13mil next year, with a player option for a third. But should by some miracle he end up free of that deal with a buyout, he'd be a great backup to Ray.

What? No way. Guys getting a big pay check over the next three years, we wouldnt be able to do anything in the terms of free agency and have no financial flexibility. If he gets bought out is the only way I would bring him on board.

JO and Nate both have 2 year deals right?  Why would DET take them on?  The only reason they would trade Rip for Troy Murphy is Troy has one year left and can be bought out.

why?  because they're out from that financial obligation a year sooner in JO's case. I may be wrong, but I thought Nate's on a 1-year deal so that would help them out even more financially.

Consider the move the C's made just to get out from under Raef's deal a year sooner by acquiring Theo.  They moved the #7 pick in the draft (Brandon Roy) to move Raef.
