There you go.

No surgery. 4 weeks of rehab.

Good news. I am pretty confident this will work.

He got more than enough opinions, this has to be the right way to go.

I can't wait to see this team healthy.

I sure hope he is ready by Mar 1. We will need his input when the sked gets busy in March (17 or 18 games I believe).
The beatings will continue until morale improves

Didn't we already try this once (shut down for a few weeks)? Just wonder why they think it will work this time but failed the previous time? Don't wish any bad luck hope we are making the right decision for everyone here.

Keep Sheed on speed dial & tell him to get into shape.

My guess is that surgery would end his season.

While I'm not confident that he can be everything Danny hoped he'd be, I am confident that he can be a darn good 3rd string center.  If he's healthy for the playoffs, I love the fact that Shaq and Perk can not worry about foul trouble knowing that Jermaine is available on the bench.

Jermaine also could be an interesting option later in games.  He's over 70% from his career from the FT line (and closer to the upper 70s the latter half), so he'd present an upgrade over Shaq and Perk in that department and a height/defense advantage over BBD at the 5.

That would be nice, but I have a feeling it won't be by then.

As long as he is ready to play by the end of March. That gives him month to get back into game-shape for the nitty-gritty.

Yeah, but they said they are gonna focus on strengthening other muscles (glutes and hamstrings or quads, I forgot already).

Well at this point we just hope he can be back in time to get ready for the playoffs. The season is already half over, just time to start getting JO, Perk, and West healthy for the real season..

I believe they have come up with a set of exercises to strengthen the muscles around the knee in hopes that it will enable him to play the rest of the season beginning March 1 or so. If it works, great. It will be a bonus to still have him available when Perk comes back.

OK. 4 weeks out, scheduled to be ready for playoffs.

Suppose things don't go as planned - what's our backup? Understand some folks want Sheed & some don't (I personally do). If we have to call up Sheed, is there a deadline of some sort? When would he need to be in uniform to be eligible and playoff ready?

More I think about this, the more I'm leaning to calling Sheed anyway.

they would have to cut someone from the roster and sign Sheed before march 1st for him to be eligible for the playoffs .

Thanks.

JO is out 4 weeks, so she's scheduled to be back the last of February. After the 4 weeks, if he's a no-go, definitely call Sheed. Just hope Sheed is ready by March 1.

Hope it goes well but my gut says we need Sheed. Perk is coming back from injury, Shaq needs minutes limited, JO may or may not be able to help much, and BBD is not good over long minutes. Don't want the same thing to happen this year in the playoffs where we need an extra big man.

Actually they don't have to sign Sheed before March 1st.  They can actually sign him any time before the playoffs.  A player just has to be released before March 1, and since Sheed isn't signed to any team this doesn't apply to him.  (Essentially this just means you have to be available to be signed before March 1st, which isn't a problem with Sheed since he's currently a free agent).

Just see February 2008, when Brent Barry was traded by the Spurs to the Sonics, waived by the Sonics, then Barry didn't sign back with the Spurs till March 24th.  Or 2010 when Ilgauskas was traded by the Cavs to the Wizards, released, and then re-signed with the Cavs on March 23rd.
