  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
You win championships with defense, not wing scorers who refuse to play it. I don't trade Noah for Melo either.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Noah isn't even THAT good.  Chicago is the dumbest team in the league if they won't move a top 10 C for a top 3 SF.

1) Dwight Howard
2) Noah

Before he was hurt, Noah was averaging 15.5 points, 13.6 boards, the best rebound rate in the league, 1.4 blocks, and only 3 fouls over 38 minutes. On top of that he had a true shooting % of 58.7 (which is good for 14th in the league among centers, 9th best among starting centers). And that's only the stat line, that's not factoring in his role as the vocal leader of the Bulls' defense and lockerroom leadership.

He was a terrible matchup on Dwight Howard, and a poor matchup on Shaq because of their size and strength.

Against everyone else though, Noah is one of the best centers in the league.

I'm not sure who's more valuable Noah or Melo, my evaluation of both players is that they're pretty close in current value.

I don't think Melo/Boozer/Rose would compete with the current team, though I think you can build a contender around either "core" easily enough.

So basically he struggles with elite size in your view? I'd be curious to how he's done against Bynum, Bogut, Gasol, and Randolph.

The National Basketball Association, where guys who are going to be free agents next year basically control the league. I love the game, but honestly, this stuff with the players manipulating the owners is really starting to get to me. Why can't there be more Cliff Lee's in this world.

I think "controlling the league" might be a little dramatic.

Career Head to head

Noah  = 6ppg, 11rpg, 2 BLK  ,35% FG , 42% FT     0 wins
Bynum = 13ppg, 7 RPG,1.5BLK, 52%FG  , 80% FT     4 wins

Noah  = 9PPG, 10RPG, 2BLKS, 51%FG   , 68% FT     6 wins
Bogut = 17PPG,10RPG, 3BLKS, 56%FG   , 58%FT      3 wins

Noah  = 9 ppg,11 rpg,  2 BLKS , 41%FG, 64% FT    1 win
Gasol = 19ppg,10.6rpg ,2BLKS ,  53%  , 76% FT    6 wins

Dwight howard owns him when they play and he doesnt match up well with Shaq either .

Not exactly the shut down center most people make him out to be. He is still very skinny and can be pushed around .

Not saying he isn't a good player , but he lacks beef and if you are getting Melo back for him , I think its crazy not to trade a guy that could land another star next to Rose and Boozer

Bynum:
http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/h2h_finder.cgi?request=1&p1=bynuman01&p2=noahjo01

When Noah is playing 20+ mins he's dominating Bynum

Gasol Noah
http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/h2h_finder.cgi?request=1&p1=gasolpa01&p2=noahjo01

Disgarding the last game (where Noah was hurt and shot 30% from the field) and 2 other games where Noah got less than 20 mins, Gasol is winning the war, 16 pts/12 boards/47% shooting. Noah is averaging 10 pts, 12.2 boards, 42% shooting.

But in the last 2 games (aside from the game where Noah played injured) Noah is averaging 15 pts and 16 boards to Gasol's 11 and 16.

Bogut is maturing at around the same age and is outperforming him, evne when Noah is getting the minutes.

THing is, Noah was not the hands down agreed upon starter and leader on that team until about halfway thru 08-09, so the entire year and a half before that, the numbers are screwed. On top of that, he didn't really get his fouls under control until last season.

And over the last 2 seasons Noah has been getting better every game.

When healthy I would consider any of these Centers on the same level as Noah if not better:

Howard
Stoudemire
Bogut
Horford
Jefferson
Lopez
Okafor
Yao
Bynum
Kaman
Oden
Duncan (kinda)

Opinions differ but I consider Noah a tad overrated.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

This is getting ridiculous. Melo wants to have his cake and eat it too.

It's hard to accept seeing Oden and Yao on that list.  I know you said, "when healthy", but those two have a very good chance of never being healthy again.

I'm also a bit surprised you left Perk off that list.  And, how about Nene?  That guy is one of the most under-rated players in the league.  Nobody ever pays any attention to the Denver big man.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

If Denver acquired Noah, what use would they have for Nene?  So why not send Nene back to Chicago with 'Melo?

Whether or not you believe Noah or Melo would be a more important piece to that team, you cannot deny that Melo/Nene would be a ridiculous upgrade over Deng/Noah.  The only problem would be the difficulty in matching salaries.  I think another team would need to get involved.

I'd trade Noah and picks for Melo, but I wouldn't do Noah, Deng and a pick.

Cuz this is the NBA, not me borrowing tools from my neighbor. Nene has value, why would they give him away?
