By the way, we're not going to have the cap space to sign Randolph.  I assume he'll be looking for at least $10 million per season, and we'll only be able to offer the MLE.

I really like Randolph but we don't need him as long as we have KG.  If he wanted to take backup money, of course I'd take him, but he is an allstar talent so forgetaboutit.

But how much longer are we going to have KG?  If Randolph would be willing to be KG's backup for a year or two, sign me up.

Screw that, unless Randolph is going to take a 1 year deal(which he won't)

Don't be adding any long term contacts and at least give youself a chance to go after Dwight Howard. Zach Randolph isn't the kind of star you mess up your cap space for.

  • You say when......
I watched him play, he is a force inside on offense, not sure how he feels about D..He is high on the league rebounding list, Be nice to be ABLE to get him or K Love..! A rebounder is the final piece to a championship team..! Too bad BBD doesn't realize this..!

I can definitely see the Griz giving Randolph a contract in the 14 to 16 mil a year range. The Celts certainly dont have that kinda of cash to spend. He might be a good player but he can also be a lazy headcase.

Zach would be a fantastic 6th man on a contender.  His first year or two in Portland was special to watch.

As a starter, his defensive deficiencies and questionable decision making are too problematic.

A shame his gaudy stats are probly going to get him a ton of money again.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

Grizz are gonna let him walk so they can afford to keep Marc Gasol.

they should just trade him now then and try to get a expiring contract and a pick or young cheap player back .

I think the Grizz are pretty committed to making the playoffs this yer. But if it doesn't look like they'll make it by the deadline, I could see the rockets as a great trade partner for them.

No thanks. Better uses for that kind of money elsewhere. Even for less money, just... no thanks.

that's fair enough but where would you spend the money? there are a limited number of players who fill certain spots that are available next year.
Knowing our luck the lakers will probably get this SOB and he will be a thorn in our side for 5 years.
players to go in the not too distant future:
shaq
oneal
garnett(in 1 or 2 years)
baby (most likely)

We are going to need reinforcement in the paint and this guy is just plain nasty.
watch a grizzlies game next time theyre on and scrutinize his positioning and tenacity on rebounds and on defense.
hard to match.
neither the C's nor Lakers will have anything more than the MLE to offer anyone next year.

He's most likely either going to resign with Memphis for as much as he can or go to one of the teams that still has cap room this year after missing out on the FA bonanza this past offseason

I feel the same way about Zach Randolph that I do about Kevin Love.

Great numbers, but not interested.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

  • Rondo = Good
You know how KG is really really good at defense, and really intense all the time?

Well, Zach Randolph is pretty much the exact opposite of KG.

Why not sign BBD for 40% of what Zach Randolph costs you? Is Zach that much better?

  • Celtics fan for life.
that guy's a thug and will bring a dark cloud in the locker room. The celtics and the players that represent the organization are not about that.

Besides, he chucks up more shots then antoine.  :-X
