The New York Knicks have reached out to Memphis about participating in a three-team deal that would send Grizzlies guard O.J. Mayo to Denver and Carmelo Anthony to New York, according to league sources.

The Knicks have tried to engage Denver in trade talks all season, but the Nuggets, unmoved by the players New York has to offer, have been unwilling to partake in significant discussions. Sources, however, say that is changing as the Nuggets themselves wonder whether Anthony is willing to go to New Jersey.

The Knicks understand they need to recruit another trade partner or two in order to put together a package Denver would be interested in, and that's their motivation for inquiring about Mayo. It is not clear at this point whether Denver is actively involved in the talks with Memphis.

So I guess it would be something like

Mem sends OJ Mayo
Mem Gets: 1 out of Galinari, Fields or Chandler

Den sends: Melo
Den Gets:  Mayo, 2 1st rd picks ,and 1 of fields galinari or Chandler

NYK Send: 2 out ofGalinari, fields or Chandler,Curry , 2 1st rd
              picks
NYK Gets: Melo

I didnt check the trade checker so other pieces might need to be involved to make the salaries work

Its a good frame work... However, Memphis must get back more than just one of those players for Mayo in this deal.

  • Rondo = Good
My guess is the Grizzlies would have to get Chandler in order for them to give up Mayo.  Gallo wouldn't fit on their team and Fields, while a solid player, doesn't have the kind of talent or potential that Mayo does.

I'm not sure Mayo has the kind of talent or potential that we thought he had either at this point.

Trading OJ Mayo for Wilson Chandler would be a good improvement for the Grizzlies. Make them an above .500 team.

Chandler and Gay would be a nice combination on the wing. Good two-way players who can score and play quality defense.
