Despite a claim by Stephen A. Smith to the contrary, Rasheed Wallace has no plans to come out of retirement and re-join the Celtics.

"I don't think that's the case -- for now anyway," Wallace's agent, Bill Strickland told FanHouse.

"He has a period of time to where he may be thinking about it, but he has not given me any indication of his intent to return. ... He's still saying that for now he's good, that he's OK where he is."

Wallace still lives in the Boston area, but the Celtics have the league-maximum of 15 players under guaranteed contracts.

"I'm here to tell you that Rasheed Wallace will come out of retirement once the (Feb. 24) trading deadlines expires in all likelihood, because he wants another shot at the Lakers," Smith said on The Dan Patrick Show.

The only way I see this happening is if JO knee continues to cause him problems and causes him to miss a big chunk of games, then sheed would come in handy

If we move Avery Bradley to the dleague does that open up a roster spot or no? Sorry not sure how that works. Maybe a small trade will come along to open up a roster spot. Most likely if JO or Shaq go down.

I would infinitely believe Sheed's agent over steven.  Since steven said Sheed is coming back, you can bank on it not happening.

No. Celtics would have to trade or release someone.

The thing is, I wouldn't mind seeing him here.  The depth couldn't hurt.  But I don't understand why Rasheed would want to come back.  He'd clearly be the 6th big man on a team that's going to have trouble finding the 5th big man minutes.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Doesn't exactly sound like he's hitting the gym getting ready for a comeback. I can't understand why anyone wants him. What exactly does he bring to the team other than a tall frame, and technicals. Shaq, Perk, JO, Erden, Baby... all better players than him(yes Semih too).

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
sheed brings a defensive presence that is basically 2nd on the bigs rotation after garnett.
Remember him soul-destroying dwight howard and paul gasol?
If the guy has had 6 months off and his back is feeling good, this would be an excellent move for the celtics to make.
Dump avery bradley and get sheed in for depth if nothing else.
We are an old team and there is a chance that one of our more importatn bigs is going to down come playoff time.
Sheed knows the system and was pretty good last year in the playoffs.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

If he's not thinking about coming back, why does he still have an agent?
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

If anything this sounds like he is going to come back. The agent didn't deny it. He just said he "doesn't think thats the case". If Sheed does come out of retirement it wouldn't be until a later date. Why would his agent just come out and say "yeah he is going to play for the Celtics"?? Who knows if he will come back or not but this really doesn't sway things one way or another

TP, haha. :D

I don't think it was that much of a secret that Sheed might at least WANT to come back. The question is, is there room on the roster for him. Other than that, the agent isn't convincing me that there was a misunderstanding between Steven A. and his source.

Hmm, looks like Stephen A. is backtracking a bit.

Please don't go quoting about Rasheed Wallace return. All I said on DP's Show is that he said months ago he planned on coming out of
