I guess your memory is cloudy, but Sheed played pretty well in that game and had 10 rebounds.  Doc couldn't play him more because he had a back problem.  That's why you didn't get more from him.  It was the Big 3 that let the team down.  Pierce and Ray didn't shoot well and KG had only 3 rebounds.

Edit: this is in response to blceltsfan above.  Forgot to use the quotes.

I posted his stats for game 7 (sorry the collumns are a little off. see my post above) he had 8 rebounds not 10. he was 6/15 from the floor, again didn't get to the foul line once. Fouled out. Lakers Bynum was hurt and played a subpar 18 min but Gasol went off for 19pts and 18rbs and to the line for 7-13.

I'd take my chances with who we have who have worked hard and been here.

Not that it will change your opinion much, but he was 5-for-11 from the field overall.  Three pointers are included in FGAs (unlike in Europe, where they're counted separately statistically.)

I was pretty happy with Rasheed's 11/8 in that game.  Also, you can't discount his defense; Gasol, Bynum, and Odom shot a combined 10-for-29 in that game.

Sigh...  Looking back in that game, it's amazing that we lost.  Derek Fisher was the only Laker to shoot above 39% in Game 7.  It all came down to rebounding, and if anything, that solidifies the point that we need as many big men as possible.
Rebounding/officiating.

While comparing the combined shooting of Sheed VS GAsol, Bynum and Odum, also compare the rebounding which was a combined 31 boards with 15 off the offensive glass. Those 3 went to the line 15 times and made 8, where Sheed never even tripped over the line.

As for his previously mentioned bad back. That has been a cronic condition for him and another reason to appreciate his EFFORT but move on to a better option.

who's the better option to move on to?  not trying to be sarcastic, just asking.
Greg

Sheed wasn't the problem on the boards that game, KG was. He only, I think, 2 rebounds in 40ish minutes.

With JO's probable surgery or extended absence to shut down his knee, all signs seem to point out to a Sheed comeback once again. And I'm gladly in favor ot this move.

Basic problem:

Since steven i smith predicted it would happen there is absolutely no chance it will.

Time would be better spent pondering looking for another big man.

Personally, I don't think it'll be necessary.  Shaq, Perk, Semih, Davis, and Garnett will be more than a formidable rotation.

He did say the Lebron was going to Miami though.

Really?  LOL.  I thought steven even defied the blind squirrel concept.

Well, that brings his accuracy rate to about the level of a Belichick injury report.....Or the Mitchell Report.

Sheed needs to come back now.  Like seriously, right now. Today. This minute. This second.

Time is valuable.  Not waiting for March while he's fat as [no masked profanity please] and out of shape.  Get in shape asap, so he can at least contribute in May, and hopefully June.

I know the injuries are piling up right now, but you are all aware that 'Sheed would be the fifth big on this team come playoff time if he returned, aren't you?  This would be the same role that Shelden Williams played in last year.  I think Semih will be just fine in that position.  If we're really lucky, JO will be healthy enough to give us those five-ten minutes every third game.

Personally, I don't think it'll be necessary.  Shaq, Perk, Semih, Davis, and Garnett will be more than a formidable rotation.

Perk -- coming off major surgery and has not played any basketball for 7 months. We cannot expect him to be 100 percent until next year.

Shaq -- looks like a 100-year-old man. Jermaine going down and likely having surgery means less opportunity to rest Shaq.

Semih -- a rookie that really should not see many minutes in the playoffs. If he does, the Celts are going nowhere and likely will be out in the second round.

Davis -- a former power forward who now fancies himself as a shooting guard.

garnett -- He should be fine.

I think Jermaine's presence was important to this big man rotation and they are going to have to figure out how to get someone here. What a bust and what a waste of the MLE.

Who wants to get in on the 'Melo deal and snag Johan Petro?  :)

Perk will probably have more than two months to get into optimal game shape before the playoffs.  I don't think it's unreasonable to expect him to be 100% by then.

Shaq will play with the hunger and passion he did to start the season when the playoffs roll around.

We all know that Baby will play better when he goes back to his bench role.

KG should be fine.

Erden is a better fifth big than many team's third.  If JO is somehow miraculously healthy for the playoffs then Semih's our sixth big.

There's not exactly a dire emergency here.

It took KG a full season to get back to his old self and his injury/surgery was less serious than Perk's.

I think you need to remember that Shaq is 39-years-old. The only way he can bring it big time in the playoffs is if he gets some rest this season. A lot of rest. With all of the inuries, that is going to be difficult.

I already made my stand about Semih.

I think they need to make a trade to find a decent big man.

I think Shaq is preserving himself...he doesn't look like he trying to do too much right now. January-march is injury city for most teams. Shaq has gone to war many times, and he looked 'okay' during the cleveland series last year (even with perkins guarding him). If he sees kobe in the finals I think he'll play on borrowed time to get that last push out of himself.

If we do win it this year i'd actually bet $ he's going to retire and walk away from the 1.3 mil for next season, go out on top. After this season I don't see the Celtics or Lakers meeting in the finals for a while (or either team making it that far) and I think both teams realize that.....and if the spurs OR the heat think they're going to the finals again, someone needs to be slapped.

Bring back the show!!!!

With the JO news today, bring back Sheed so he can be ready for the playoffs.
