GAme 7

Min  FG  3Pt FT  +/- OffReb Ast TO Stl BS BA PF Pts

Wallace C 35:36 5-11 1-4 0-0 -4  2   8  2   0  0  2   1 6 11

If he couldn't give us more than this (he was gased and ineffective defensively and NEVER got to the foul line) after being here all year I don't want to see what he does getting off the couch. Oh wait...that's right..he said he'd be ready...let's trust him again.

Sheed was huge for us in game 7, and he was huge during the Orlando series, his defense against Dwight was great...you can see how frustrated Dwight was being defended against Sheed and Perk...

I guess your memory is cloudy, but Sheed played pretty well in that game and had 10 rebounds.  Doc couldn't play him more because he had a back problem.  That's why you didn't get more from him.  It was the Big 3 that let the team down.  Pierce and Ray didn't shoot well and KG had only 3 rebounds.

Edit: this is in response to blceltsfan above.  Forgot to use the quotes.

What about Miami!!  I want to keep their front court depth as shallow as a babypool!

If Rasheed is an unrestricted free agent right now and he wants to play this year, I would cut either Wafer or Erden in a heartbeat and not even think twice about it, just for the purpose of keeping him out of Miami's hands.

Erden maybe a nice young player but he's not a future cornerstone for this team.  Our #1 priority right now is to win this year.  If we have to make space on the roster by getting rid of players who hold no future bearing on this team to keep another team out of our way to Banner 18, then by all means, DO IT!

Bring Back Sheed!!! Add me to those who want him back  :)

Would prefer Sheed's experience & whatever he's got left for the playoffs.

We can use another big that can play. Shaq & JO can only play limited minutes and have been out. We don't know if Perk will be 100%. Erden has missed time & has shoulder issues. If nothing else, Sheed could also be a great insurance policy in case someone gets hurt (hopefully not but need to be prepared) or simply need rest.

I posted his stats for game 7 (sorry the collumns are a little off. see my post above) he had 8 rebounds not 10. he was 6/15 from the floor, again didn't get to the foul line once. Fouled out. Lakers Bynum was hurt and played a subpar 18 min but Gasol went off for 19pts and 18rbs and to the line for 7-13.

I'd take my chances with who we have who have worked hard and been here.

i dont care what the stats say.  he played his heart out in game 7, and in pain.  almost anyone who watched the game will tell you the same.

Good article on Sheed & the situation:

Be sure and read the last paragraph (not sure if pasting the text would be a copywright or other violation).

I can agree he played as hard as he could, but since when is a hard working underperforming player enough? If that were the case, I think Scal should have been a starter.

I will bet all those who "watched that game" and paid attention through the year were aware he wasn't into the "heavy lifting" during the season and his mantra was "I'll be ready when it counts" meaning the playoffs. His condition was not as good as it should have been and his stats were indicative of his contribution.

stats dont always tell the whole story.  Yes I am aware of his regular season behavior and i did watch the games, even the ones early in the year when it looked like he was hiding cheeseburgers in his jersey.  my post was about game 7, and i'd even be willing to throw in the orlando series like others have.  you dont have to post 20 and 10 to have played a good game.  I thought he defended really well, scored when he could, and played with a lot of heart.

Jermaine O'neal hasnt been posting great stats but over the past few games I thought hes played real well also.  just my opinion man.  theres more out there than just whats on the box score.

I agree with you about stats.

Yet can we agree shooting and defense requires "legs"?

He was out of gas and didn't shoot well. Nor did he "defended really well." He fouled out because he was a step slow and was grabbing instead of moving his feet. Not getting to the line tells you about his lack of aggressiveness to the basket and on the box. Then when you compare the Laker's performance, and yes stats, by those he had to match up with, it just didn't cut it for me.

Well, assuming that he won't cause locker room problems getting DNP-CD, I don't see how it can hurt to pick him up.  I don't see him being useful unless we get hit hard by injuries upfront.  But if we lose a couple big men during the playoffs, I sure wouldn't mind having him around.

I would be all for bringing Sheed back if I though he was even in as good shape now as he was last year.  We would never have gone as far as we did in the playoffs without him...I thought he was terrific!  However, he was never able to play himself into shape last year and he had full access to the Celtics facilities.  This year, without the ready access and the example of teammates (Ray, KG and Perk specifically) I doubt that he is even in marginal shape.  I do not believe he can get into shape in a couple months.  That is my reason for not wanting to give any young talent for Sheed.  (And for all the people here who say they want Wallace back, I seem to remember most people giving up completely on the Celtics, being unbelieving every step of the way last year, and bashing and blaming Wallace for his attitude and work ethic.)

I think Erden and Luke show promise, if not to start, then to be viable bench additions or trade chips in the future and at a good price.  Perk will be back (hopefully ready to play at a high level) and Shaq at this stage of his career is a better back up than starter.  JO (or Glen Davis) can back up KG.  Delonte and Marquis can back up PP and the guard positions.  I don't see the need for 'Sheed at this time, unless JO is unable to go, and even then I am skeptical.

For very brief minutes, Wafer and Luke won't hurt you too much.  I like the team as it stands and think they just have to find their passion and UBUNTU again.

Sheed's a better guy to have than Erden or Gody.  The addition of Sheed would also make me far more comfortable trading Baby for a combo forward.

Heck, with all the time off, Sheed might even be a little rejuvenated.
