I'm not sure I'd want him either.  Well, if Jermaine's knee is truly ready to go at any time - then, I'd want him.  But, personally, if Perkins comes back healthy -- I believe we have plenty of bigs.  I actually personally think our need now is a back up PG.  Rondo is logging too many minutes, and if Billups becomes available - I'd love his end of game FT shooting.

Right now, Doc needs to sort out the rotation rather than just adding a bunch of bodies.

To reiterare; someone would have to be cut to make room for 'Sheed on the roster.

I don't see Danny straight cutting anyone on this roster to make room for Wallace.  Maybe he would do some kind of two for one trade to bring the roster down to 14 and then use the last spot on 'Sheed.

Who needs rookies on this team
really

with

Rondo, Nate
Ray, West, Wafer
Pierce, Quis
KG, Sheed, BBD
Perk, Shaq, JO

all others are expendable

Avery, gody and Semih are NOT playoff players, so theyre in the bubble for me
Wonder if danny can make a trade minimal with 2 of them

We cant trade any of the others because we are slim and injury prone with the smalls and taking a step back if we trade one of the bigs

How would this work? Vet Min? Would it activate his prior contract?

I think his contract is still on the books, but I could be wrong. (Meaning, he'd come back and be paid the nearly $6.8 million remaining on his deal.)

Edit: Wallace was waived in August 2011. I can find no mention of a buyout arrangement, so that's why his full salary for this year is still on the books.

If he were to come back to another team, the Celtics would be able to reduce the money they owe him by a percentage of his new salary. Larry Coon does not mention what happens should a waived player return to the team that held his last contract.

Sheed would be a better third string center than Erden.

I would be fine with that swap.
Yeah, that's my thought as well. If he does come back Erden gets cut.

If the Celtics are able to bring Sheed back, creating a package around Big Baby to bring in Shane Battier should be the next move:

Baby, Quis, Avery Brady and money

for

Shane Battier + Quis buyout.

Also to be honest, I think I'd argue that Sheed would have been more helpful NOW than during the playoffs (when hopefully we will have our entire arsenal of players.)  We've gone points missing EVERY ONE of our big men.  Most of the time - in multiples.

If everyone is healthy, where is Sheed gonna get minutes with Shaq, Perkins, JO, KG?

We are left with an even slimmer guard rotation
I think this could hurt us too muuch
I really think the way to go is

Wonder if danny can make a trade in a 2 for one or 3 for one is that leave us open and short on the rotations, specially against teams guards heavy

The idea is for Quis to resign after the buyout. Baby and Bradley for Shane Battier and Sheed?

Sign me up.

We have no need for Sheed. In my opinion Sheed is not going to make us better.  It took him all year last year just to get in shape for the playoffs, do we really think he can get in shape in 20-30 games? We are better off with the pieces we have. Also to get rid of Bradley, Semih or Gody for Sheed would not be a good move for the future.  Sure they may never be superstars, but they have a chance to be good solid role players.
do it

NOOOOOOOOO. Doc has said on numerous occations that he likes this years team. I beleave Sheed not being here is on of the reasons. He's a big mouth who gets way too many T's. He's in love with the 3 point shot, which he can't hit by the way, and doesn't want to bother rebounding. I was trilled the day he retired and would hate to see him back on this team.
I'm feeling pretty good that once Perk returns the celtics should be in pretty good shape for bigs.

Yeah, that's my thought as well. If he does come back Erden gets cut.

Never happen in a million years.  Danny likes Erden's potential and he's not going to cut somebody with another full year on their contract.

If Sheed does come back (and I don't think he will), Danny will trade away one of our guaranteed contracts to create a roster spot.  Wafer is very expendable once West returns.  And unlike Erden he's easier to cut outright since he's on a shorter contract.

But Sheed's not coming back.
Folly. Persist.

I really hope Sheed comes back for the last 10-15 regular season games and the postseason.  Sheed would definitely be more valuable than Harangody or Erden, especially in the playoffs.  When compared to Davis, I have the following:

Rebounding:  Sheed > Davis
Post Defense:  Sheed > Davis
Jump Shot:  Sheed > Davis
Protect Rim on pick and rolls:  Davs > Sheed (#11 takes charges)
Post Offense:  Sheed > Davis
Experience:  Sheed > Davis
Ability to Punish the HEAT:  Sheed > Davis

I therefore conclude that if they could get Sheed back, any one of Davis/Erden/Harangody is very expendable.  Since Davis has some value and is likely to leave for a bigger contract at the end of the year, I'd say trade Davis.

I think Danny will gladly cut his third string C if he thinks it will improve the team. He might cut Wafter instead, but Erden's potential is to be a solid backup in this league.

A title shot this year is more important.

That assumes an in-shape, motivated Sheed (which is unavailable)...
