  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
So here's the thinking.
Assuming Allen, Pierce, Rondo are still here and that:
KG is retired
shaq is retired
baby has been traded/moved or is on a one year extension.

Do you think danny ainge will go after howard?
Are we looking at perkins/baby+picks+cash etc ?

I think there's a high probability that howard would certainly talk to the celtics and be drooling at the thought of playing with rondo.
starting five:
howard C
allen SG
pierce SF
rondo PG
x factor PF
Can you imagine?
How realistic is the above ?
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.

i'm wondering how interested dwight would be in moving cities.
I guess if the magic don't keep him happy with good additions then he'll seriously consider it.
the thought of having Rondo + howard for 5 years just makes me drool.

assume there is no lockout next year, KG takes the MLE or a lot less money, get Dwight...if Perk is not happy with his new role, lets see what pieces we can get...as much as I like Perk, but if we can get Dwight we can do a sign and trade...

a lineup with

Rondo
Ray
Pierce
KG
Dwight

is still pretty deadly...our big three can be old but very very experienced...if Shaq still stays and comes off the bench thats a plus...do not re-sign JO (we signed him for a year right?) and theres our MLE...

for our bench, BBD might be a priority if he demands a lot of money

Of course they should go after him, we have rondo and pierce guaranteed salary at close to 28 million in 2012, if we resign Perk and the new CBA is similar to the current one we should be close to 40 million if they pick up bradleys option. That leaves room for Dwight.
That leaves us with a starting 5, some draft picks and minimum salary players. We have by then the best PG in the game and the most dominant big man in the league.

Guards: Rondo, Bradley
Forwards : Pierce, Howard
Center: Perk

I agree with everything except Howard playing PF. If you get Howard, you don't keep Perk.

I'll say it again, I think we should after Howard and Kevin Love.  They would be a perfect front-court combo and both would be great with Rondo.  It would also probably give us the top rebounders in the league at 3 positions (plus Pierce who is probably about 3rd after LeBron and Wallace).
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

His possible availability is one of the main reason of why I think we will not see the Celtics add any major money (mid level or higher) the next season.

No, we shouldn't go after the most dominant center in the game... ;)

Is this even a question?

We should put all our effort into getting Dwight Howard here to play with Rondo in 2012

Every team is obviously going to have interest in Dwight, aside from maybe the Fakers - I mean, Lakers. They regard Bynum pretty highly.

I don't think Kevin Love is a free agent the same year Howard is. If the C's wanted Love, they would have to sign Howard, wait a year, and then sign Love. Not a bad idea. That would certainly be one of the better front courts in the NBA, if not the best.

I don't like them together as I do separate.

I want a better defender next to Howard.  I want a better shooter.
