I was very excited to see this game tonight because I thought the regulars were going to have big games tonight. Glen Davis couldn't throw the ball into Lake Michigan tonight. Carlos Boozer had big baby for supper tonight. He did anything he wanted to do tonight. The officiating tonight was absolutely terrible tonight. Bulls went to the charity stripe 35 times, while the Celtics went to the line 22 times. D. Rose managed to get to the line 19 times. He is another sweetheart of David Stern. Celtics beat the Bulls twice already this season, but it wasn't going to happen tonight. Darrel Garretson and his band of crim....ls made sure about that. Hey Doc, you should have given Luke more minutes tonight, instead of giving Baby 43 minutes.

Boozer is a tough cover for davis. It effected him on the other end. It's still one game, we just need KG back

I think I'd rename this "The Worst Game I Ever Saw This Year's Team Play" ... they win as a team and lose as a team, and Glen was far from the worst member tonight, so I don't think it's quite fair to hang this one on him.

He had the most offensive rebounds, was one of only four players on our team to have any blocks, was fourth highest scorer, third at the line, and had four steals, (second only to Rondo). The whole team just plain sucked, but I could single out many others who played much worse than Big Baby.

There is never a game in which Davis should be taking 17 shots... The sooner he realizes that, the better it will benefit the team.

Baby over the last 10 games:  39% shooting, 4.6 rebounds per game (8 rebounds, total, in the past four games), 1.6 assists per game (with 8 assists coming in one game, and 8 combined coming in the other 9 games).

Even with his great game against San Antonio, BBD is hurting the team in his current role right now.  I'm looking forward to him going back to the bench, where he's generally been much more effective.

Its says something about Baby and the rest of the bigs when Rondo a pg was your leading rebounder in a game with 5.

Agreed that much of the team sucked tonight, but man, is it possible to be "much worse" than a 4-for-17 shooting performance?  BBD definitely isn't shy about shooting, that's for sure.

I'd say Baby's poor performance was the biggest factor in tonight's loss, but the nonexistent effort from the bench and the sporadic play from the rest of the starters certainly contributed, as well.

  • Rondo = Good
BBD obviously thinks he is a better player than he is, and it's hurting the team.

He's not a starter in this league, and he never will be.  He needs to go back to a bench role.  It's okay when he wants to be the primary offensive option for the second unit.  It's NOT okay when he wants to be the primary offensive option for the first unit.

Sorry, but I just don't get some of this rationalization ... this is a bench player who is fourth in scoring, (behind only the Big Three), second in rebounding, and way ahead of anyone in the NBA at taking charges, but because his shooting percentage has been off in a couple of games, he's "hurting" the team?!?

I could find similarly bad games for every member of this team, and use that as rationalization for blame and dislike, (if I felt so motivated). I think this comes down to the fact that some people have decided they just plain don't like him, (for whatever reasons), and use bad games to validate that dislike.

Well, people are certainly entitled to that dislike, but this kid has easily been the best bench player this year overall, and has done much more to help this team than hurt it. Yes, he still makes immature decisions and mistakes at times, but he doesn't lead the list in that category either.

Baby has had 5 rebounds in his last 95 minutes of playing time.

And he's second overall for the year, both in percentage and totals, (behind only KG). Everyone has slumps or times when they're "off', but you don't use those slumps to muddy the big picture.

Baby is suffering from a case of bad shot selection--something we rarely see in players on the Celtics.

Simply, he needs to stop taking jumpers out of his range, and stop taking passes at the top of the key so much. He needs more posting up, setting down screens, and back cutting.

This game showed why Baby is not (or not yet) ready to be a starter on a championship team. He got burned by Boozer on both ends of the court. His jumper is just too inconsistent and giving him more minutes is just exposing this. Baby is perfect as an energy guy, a sixth man where he can bully the 2nd string power forwards in the league. Hopefully KG gets back sooner than later so Baby can go back doing the role that's he's best at - the first big off the Celtics' bench.

KG, Luke, Shaq, JO and Semih have all rebounded at a higher per-minute rate thyan Baby.

The problem for the Celtics was only two players showed up: Pierce and Allen.

Davis' problem is when his shot isn't falling, he fails to make any other impact on the game whatsoever. That is the most annoying kind of player.
