The rebounding thing is weird.  BBD has never been a great -- or even a good -- rebounder, but the last two games have been an anomaly.  His two lowest rebounding games of the year have been these two most recent games.  I'm not sure if he's changed his approach, or if it's bad luck, superior competition, or something else.

I do wish BBD was a better rebounder overall; he needs to learn to box out better, and he doesn't seem to have the instincts to know where the ball will be before it actually has fallen off the rim.  Still, I expect him to be a lot better than he has been the past two games.

He seems to have these games more often when he starts. The splits bear this out with a 6.1 per36 rebounding rate, well below his career average of 7.2.

I don't know if that's because he's playing almost all of his minuts at PF or if its because he's worrying about more aspects of the game when starting.

-Davis had the lowest fg% of the starters, yet still took the MOST shots.

That's just the defensive scheme that teams are throwing at our starters. Davis is the least gifted offensive player out there and they rotate and help to give him the shot if they're going to give up anything.

Similar to how Orlando played Nate, BBD has to make them pay when he's given a scoring chance.

He shot 10 for 18!  That's 56%.  Are we going to look down upon that just because the rest of the starters happened to shoot higher than that?
Yup

And Roy, again, I find myself responding to your posts.
According to NBA.com/Celtics stats, BBD is the 2nd highest rebounder on the team, right behind KG.

It's almost as though you are looking for negatives.

He's the second highest rebounder in terms of raw stats because he's gotten the second highest number of minutes of the big men.

In terms of rebounds per minute and rebounding percentage, BBD is 5th, behind KG, Shaq, Harangody, and JO (and well below Perk's normal stats, as well).  BBD's stats are very close to Semih Erden's.

In other words, BBD is very close to being the statistically worst rebounding big man on the team.  He is, however, currently slightly outrebounding our rookie 2nd rounder who needs shoulder surgery.

Playing more minutes against starters vs backups could also play a role in that.

Out of 74 PFs playing at least 6 MPG he's 54th in rebound rate.

Scary as it is though he's right around or ahead of a lot of big minute PFs in rebound rate.

Still saying....the harping on his lack of rebounding in a few games is silly/negative when he has played so well this season.

And why is he playing more min. than Shaq, JO, Erdin, Gody....
Because he is the man Doc wants out there, because he is the better player and can win games for us.

In a game where the C's shot 61% we only won by two points. Our starting PF, who played 30 minutes, only had two rebounds. Meanwhile the Spurs had 15 offensive rebounds. They got 32% of there missed shots, that's the only reason it was close.

Its a flaw in his game, and is probably the only thing that will keep him from being a succesful starter in this league. I was hoping he'd step it up with KG being gone.

Baby wasn't the only offender though, Shaq only had 1 rebound in 21 minutes. Shaq has not looked good lately  :(.

Very well put. TP.

It doesnt mean he isnt a really great role player. It is just his biggest flaw. He brings alot to the table but good defensive rebounding will never be one of them.

You're on a blog where people are talking about trading away Rondo to improve our offense. Get used to it.

Well, Baby has corrected every flaw that's been pointed out and admirably and I'm sure he will find a way to get good on this too.

Baby is a player that Doc can ask to work on something and he works on it, and then is able to do it. Every single thing he's done or not that has been complained about here, he has corrected.

Now it's the rebounding. Give him time.

TP for the laugh.  And one where someone says Semih Erden is a better defender than Jermaine O'Neal.
