Kendrick is an interesting player. In half of the basketball categories, he's a B+ player. In the other half he's a D+ player.

Davis tends to be a B- player all around. Davis is also already more of an impact player, but Kendrick is so good at his role...tough choice.

The question is this: do we need more than just defense once Ray and Paul can't score 19 a piece anymore? I think yes.

Plus, Baby shows the propensity to evolve as a player and person much faster than Perkins. I don't know if Perkins will ever develop any sort of go-to offense.
Baby is evolving faster on offense. Perk is a defensive guy. It is not fair to equate development with offense and not with defense.

Considering we have plenty of other guys who want to shoot, we also need some defense first guys.

Ray is only here one more year. He will still be able to score 19 a game. He just won't due to the sharing we have on offense.

Big Baby ... I'll take an over-producing bench player over an injury-proned under-producer any day. Don't get me wrong, I love Perk when he's healthy, at least defensively, but the fact is, he's not healthy, and never stays healthy for long.

BBD has saved the Celtics this season (since he's only big you can count on every night to actually put the ball in the basket, the actual goal of the game of basketball) but, I hope DA can keep them both.  I don't think saving space for FAs that may never come is a good idea.  Perkins will probably get more money on the open market (someone will overpay for him if he's healthy) so I would suspect if either goes it will be him.

In order to compete with the next group and under the current CBA, both guys would have to be brought in after star players were signed. I for one am excited about the 2012 free agency and would let them walk unless they were willing to take a one year deal at overpaid money.

Other options involve S&T: Perk signed at $8 million (first year) and BBD at $5 million (first year) for Camby $9 million (aligned to expire with KG/Ray) and on a Portland team that could absorb the additional $3-4 million? Something like that would serve both squads.

It's an interesting dilemma.

This should be an actual poll so that we can see what the tally is.

Well if Danny feels he can only keep one to have enough cap space 2 offseasons from now then it might come down to this.

Would one of them be willing to a 1 year bloated deal so we can keep both.  If not maybe it will be something like we go out and sign someone like a Troy Murphy to a 1 year deal, let Baby walk or maybe a S &T, and sign Perk to a deal or the other way around if we sign a center to a 1 year deal.

From a team standpoint we have 2 OLD centers who aren't going to be here much longer and a dominate pf who changes the face of the game (and team).  We need a starting center more than a backup pf.  I think Davis has done great this year and should garner votes for 6th man of the year BUT I see him as a me first player and he'll go after money.  Perk is limited but playing next to garnett and with the other starters he is the last offensive option which is great.  He is the best low post defender in the nba.  I have always wished he could get the rebounding numbers up to 9 at least but I don't think his ft speed will ever allow that.  I do agree that he has had a series of injuries and someone will overpay for him.  The nba is center deprived now, Perk healthy is a second tier center, in the 80's he'd be a backup.

He's not healthy, and never stays healthy?

Huh?

06 - Played in 72 games
07 - Played in and started 78 games
08 - Played in and started 76 games
09 - Played in and started 78 games

His minutes have also increased exponentially every year since he's been in the league. He's never healthy for long? Entire seasons?

Perkins by a mile.

+1

Perk's value, although his offensive limitations, is higher than BBD's: Perk could start at C for a lot of NBA teams, he's a stopper and he's only improved each year. BBD is a more talented player, but he doesn't seem to know his limits yet.

The Celtics should resign both players at reasonable money, I'd say 4 years around 7-8 mil for Perk and 3-4 years at 4-5 for Glenn. Baby could be a 6th man for years, and that money doesn't seem like too much (unless next CBA says otherwise)

I don't know how reasonable that contract is for Perk in a market where Noah got 5 years, 60 mil.

If I had to choose between the two I would definitely take Perk and let JO play the back up PF spot.

Not even a question. A legit starting defensive center who can give Dwight Howard and other bigs fits, or a bench energy guy who can occasionally knock down a few outside jumpers and take charges?! The first is a very tough thing to find. The second is a dime a dozen.

Perk, and it isn't even close.
