This is somewhat based on something Chris said.

Guys that I was thinking "If that guy doesn't make it then I can't possibly predict why"

Ryan Leaf....I admit it. But you thought he'd make it too, didn't you? Didn't you!?

Matt Ryan

Matt Leinart

Vince Young

Mike Vick

Matthew Stafford

Jake Plummer

Steve McNair and Kerry Collins (based on stuff I read)

Joey Harrington

Carson Palmer

Brady Quinn

I though Eli would be good

Philip Rivers

Guys I wasn't sure about

I thought Manning seemed really skinny

McNabb and Leftwich seemed slow to me

Pennington seemed skinny and I heard he had a weak arm

Sanchez I thought was too inexperienced and was taking advantage of a weak QB year

Bradford I thought was glass

And some other guys I wondered if they were workout wonders like Boller

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Troy Smith is one guy I was pretty darn certain was going to be a guy who could adapt.

Of the recent drafts, I was completely confident on Sam Bradford and he had an awesome rookie season.  No QB has looked more NFL ready to me.  Perfect height, good athlete, smart, pretty strong arm and very accurate.  And yes he had an injury but he is not injury prone.

I thought he was one of the best college QB's I've ever seen.  I wasn't sure about his height and that was the big knock on him.  I think he could still have a good pro career, thought he was solid on the 49ers all things considered and certainly I would rather have him out there over Alex Smith. It'll be interesting to see what happens with him now.

Matt Leinart, Alex Smith, Jamarcus Russell, and Brady Quinn have not surprised me at all in their suckage.  Saw it coming.  I have to admit I thought Sanchez would be good though and though he has had his moments he sure has sucked lately.  Not sure how that will turn out.

The only ones that come to mind are Drew Brees and Drew Henson.  I thought they both were going to be great NFL QB's.

I could never understand why a couple inches could make Brees fall to the second round.  He just had such a complete game.

And I still think if Henson had fully committed to football, and not wasted time trying to play baseball, he could have been great.  I was certainly wrong on him though.

I thought Brady was going to be the best ever, I remember yelling at the TV for 6 Rounds when nobody was picking him. ;)

TP to Snakehead for his S.Bradford comments...i was thinking along those lines. If any QB that has come into the NFL lately he is the one that had/has what experts call the "IT"factor since i saw him in college. If he eventually fails it will not be because he wasn't NFL caliber or ready. It will be because the talent around him is not top notch or the system he's in.I expect to see him in a Super Bowl down the road.

Yeah, I thought he wouldn't stand a chance in the NFL.  Thought the same thing with the guy from Tennesee (forget his name) would be a dud as well.  I am just highly biased against running quarterbacks.  I just don't think they will be successful in the NFL unless they are true pocket passers first.

I definitely remember thinking "What's the point of a skinny part time starter when you have an athletic Michael Bishop?"

I admit I thought Troy Smith was just an Ohio State guy who got his Heisman by beating up on the little sisters of the poor

I get this disease with college QB's. Ever since the promise that was Tommy Frazier, the more people get down on an athletic QB and label him as a "system" guy despite winning, I start cheering for him.

I have the exact same issues.

Charlie Ward
Josh Heupel
Darryl Clark
Zac Mills

There's a million of em.

And one thing that ticks me off is when they try to change em into something they never played

Eric Crouch
Woodrow Dantzler
Scott Frost
Michael Robinson
Brad Smith

I know it worked for a couple. So what.

Guys I thought would excel:

Manning
Brees
Culpepper
McNair
Orton
Carr
Couch

Out of those guys, if I thought there was one who "couldn't miss", it was Tim Couch.  Oops.

Off the top of my head.

Most ready coming out of college?

Peyton Manning, Matt Ryan, Carson Palmer

I totally bombed on Joey Harrington.
