Quote
The Kings are fielding offers for young forward Omri Casspi, according to sources close to the situation.

Sacramento has received calls about DeMarcus Cousins, but they aren't willing to deal the rookie center.

The Bulls and Knicks have expressed interest in Casspi.

Sources say Carl Landry, meanwhile, is “highly unlikely” to re-sign in Sacramento, increasing the likelihood that the Kings move the unhappy forward before the Feb. 24 trading deadline to guard against losing him without salvaging something from the trade that cost them Kevin Martin.

One source close to the situation said Landry, as a result, is the most likely member of the Kings to be moved before the deadline.

I wonder if the c's could put together a package for Casspi. I think Rondo would make him such a better player by getting him easy outside shots and finding him on slashes to the basket and fast breaks .

Any chance Sacramento has any interest in Avery Bradley? Maybe something like Bradley, a future 1st and Wafer could get it done ?

Cassipi would be a solid Pierce backup.  I like Landry too.  I don't see us making any moves but it'll be interesting to see where some of these Kings guys end up.  Their team might suck but I think there is promise in some of their players for sure.

It's an interesting story, but I have a feeling the Kings are only looking to move Casspi if they can get a ton of value...which the C's don't have to offer.

One trade that works money-wise and passes the sniff test is BBD, Perkins for Garcia, Casspi, Jason Thompson.

Do you pull the trigger on that trade?

No.

The Celtics will win the title through size, not backups for Ray and Pierce.

No way.  I am not a fan of Thompson, and I don't think you can give up both BBD and Perkins.  Now, if you either put Landry in that in place of Garcia, or put Nate in place of BBD or Perk, then perhaps I would consider it.  But I just don't think you can trade two guys who will likely be big part of the C's run this year for mediocre young guys.

+1.  I'm actually pretty happy with Marquis and Delonte as the backups for Ray and Pierce, assuming they're healthy in the playoffs.  I like all of the players in that trade, but I think BBD and Perk help us "win now" the most.

I would also not make the trade, but it would be a tougher choice for me than it seems like it would be for you guys.

Pros: Garcia is as good or better than any wing backup we have, and at 6'7 he can play some 3 too.

Pro: I believe Casspi can be a very good player someday. A legit starter and possibly the 3rd or 2nd best player on a middling to elite but not quite contending team.

Pro: Jason Thompson is a viable backup 4 or 5 for us, that offers more size than Baby.

Con: Glen Davis and Kendrick Perkins both have shown a grittiness and toughness that Casspi, Garcai, and Thompson might lack

Con: Nobody in the trade can D up 5's like Perk. We'd lose our best post defender, on a team that needs that.

Con: Casspi and Garcia are quasi redundant.

Garcia is due money past 2012 (i believe), so Danny wouldn't go here i suspect.

I still think we need a wing player with size, but I agree that trading Perk and BBD would completely alter what now is a real advantage on our roster....front court depth.

Not sure what it would take to get just Casspi but I'd be interested in him if he is on the move.

I'm still hoping for a Posey or TA return...

Nate and Baby for Landry and Garcia works.  I don't know if I'd do that and as ssspence said his contract is 3 years.

What about Baby and Bradley for Landry and Casspi?
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

You guys should look at getting Casspi. I don't think it'll happen, though, as there are too many other teams with more pressing needs, but the guy plays decent defense, is a great energy player, and can definitely hit the 3.

This is a terrible trade for us. We loose major size, and create a huge log jam at the guard/wing positions awful awful deal.

Baby and Bradley for Landry and Casspi just gets laughed at by the Kings. For the millionth time Bradley isnt going to get us any value in return.

Nate and Baby for Landry Garcia is somewhat intriguing however. Garcia's contract is crap but if we could swap Baby for Landry Id love to do so...

To answer the thread overall, why do we need a better back up for Pierce when Marquis is doing everything we need him to and more? Yeah Casspi is a bargain but why make a trade for the sake of making a trade especially when we will be getting West and Perkins back by maybe the end of the month without giving anything up.
