Classless Laker fans on another forum happy he went down.  :-\

well they won't be so happy when he gets traded for a better player

Truth.  Caron was shooting well from outside this season, but I wouldn't have been surprised to see that fall off.  If they trade for Jackson, for example, they'd get better outside shooting and overall scoring ability while still having a solid defender out there.

If they could find a way to trade for Iguodala, they would get a player who is younger, stronger,  more athletic, a better defender, a better playmaker, and still a decent outside shooter (this season, at least).  Iguodala is probably best case scenario for them (I don't buy them getting Melo); he's like a younger, souped-up version of Caron Butler.

I think the Mavs would need someone better than Corey Maggette though. If they put Beaubois on the table, maybe some future draft picks, they could put together an interesting trade package for a legitimate All-Star type talent ... if someone became available.

Yeah, right now, I would put them as a frontrunner for Igoudala, and I think they may just be jumping stronger into the race for Melo.  I also could see them go hard after a combination of Jackson and Wallace in Charlotte.

S-Jax+ Gerald Wallace for Roddy Beaubois, Dominique Jones, Caron Butler, and Deshawn Stevenson works.

Hope he's only out for a couple of months. Just checked, no official word on the time frame yet.

Well, this could be an interesting situation if it is serious.  Butler was a valuable expiring contract who they were very hessitant to trade because he was playing so well.  Perhaps this injury will convince them to pull the trigger on a trade that could make them even better.

I like Butler a lot, but up until recently, he has had some major issues fitting into the system.  He also has had a history of taking bad shots at inopportune times.  Thats a risky guy to be relying on.
As well as they have been playing, it seems likely that any move is unlikely to make them better when everything seem perfectly in sync.

Do they really need Gerald Wallace?  Shawn Marion has pretty much the same skillset, he's just not quite as good.  There wouldn't really be playing time for the both of them.

Might make more sense to trade for Jackson and Diaw, instead.

I still think if possible that Andre Igoudala is the best guy out there waiting to be added to a good team.  His contract isn't great but he would be that much better with good talent around him and would bring Dallas some good perimeter D.

Too bad about Butler, have to feel for him and Dallas when they seem legit this year.  Hopefully they figure something out and make the West competitive up top.  Iggy would be a great move, I just don't know if they have the pieces.
